As the four descended from their private floor, Heejin walked with confidence, leading the way with Jungkook by her side. Behind them, Taehyung and Hoseok exchanged glances, a hint of nervousness in Taehyung’s eyes that Hoseok noticed immediately.
“It’s going to be fine, Tae,” Hoseok whispered, giving him a reassuring smile. “They’re a good group. Trustworthy.”
Taehyung gave a hesitant nod. He was still adjusting to the bustling life here, especially after years of staying hidden. He didn’t mind remaining in the shadows, but tonight, Heejin had insisted on this gathering, saying it was time for him to get to know Jungkook’s closest allies.
When they reached the main living room, a cozy warmth filled the air, illuminated by dimmed lights casting a soft glow over the room. Jin, Namjoon, Yoongi, and Jimin were lounging around, engaged in casual conversation. But the moment Heejin stepped in, everyone’s attention turned toward them, and an expectant silence fell over the group.
Heejin took charge, her presence calm yet commanding. She approached them with a warm smile. “Good evening, everyone. I hope it’s alright if we join you. I thought it would be nice to spend a little time together, just to get to know each other a bit more.”
Jin was the first to stand up, extending a polite smile. “Of course, Heejin. It’s good to see you again… and Taehyung as well.” He nodded toward Taehyung, who gave a small, shy smile in return.
Namjoon, Yoongi, and Jimin followed suit, each offering a respectful nod. They seemed curious, as if unsure what to expect. After all, seeing Jungkook—a man they had only ever known to keep his emotions and personal life tightly guarded—here in such a casual setting was an unusual sight.
Jungkook guided Taehyung to a nearby couch, his hand steady on Taehyung’s lower back as they sat down. Heejin began pouring tea that a maid brought, handing out cups with a grace that made everyone feel at ease.
Yoongi leaned forward, eyeing Taehyung with curiosity. “So, Taehyung, it’s nice to finally meet you. I heard you’re close to Jungkook, but he’s never really mentioned much. No, he didn't mentioned even once. I think we’re all a bit curious.”
Taehyung hesitated, glancing at Jungkook. Jungkook gave him a small nod, encouraging him to speak. “Yes, I… I’ve known Kookie htung for a long time,” he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. “But it’s true, I haven’t met many of his friends before.”
Yoongi smirked, leaning back. “You’re not alone there. I don’t think any of us have ever really known Jungkook, not in the way we thought we did.”
Jin chuckled, joining in. “Yeah, you’ve got a point, Yoongi. All this time, we thought we were close, but here you all are, and we’re realizing there’s a lot we don’t know about our dear boss.”
Jungkook rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress the faint smile that tugged at the corners of his mouth. “You’re all dramatic, you know that?”
Namjoon leaned forward, looking between Heejin and Taehyung. “So, if you don’t mind me asking, how long have you known each other?”
Heejin exchanged a look with Taehyung before speaking. “It’s been a long time. Jungkook… well, he’s more than just a friend to me. We’ve been through a lot together.”
Jimin tilted his head, intrigued. “Like what?”
There was a momentary silence as Heejin seemed to consider her response. She glanced at Jungkook, who gave her a nod of permission to share just a bit.
“Well,” Heejin began, “let’s just say that we have always been a family, specially Tae. Both of our families were centered around him. But he’s done things for us that most people would never dream of doing. He… he protected us when we had no one else. That’s all I can say for now.”
