Prologue
Blue lights flashed all around, causing shadows across her face. The breeze blew through her hair, causing it to stir around her face. Madelyn stood still, holding her breath. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't think. People moving all around taking notes and setting markers. She had just arrived on scene. She received the knock on the door shortly after getting back from her shopping trip. Her husband, Phil, had been in an accident. His car totaled in a hit and run, leaving him pinned inside...and gone. A mass of flames surrounding the vehicle, licking their way to the Heavens. Madelyn had rushed past the officer and jumped in her car. She couldn't believe it, she wouldn't. He just couldn't be gone. But he was. The mass of black inside the flames no longer a visible reminder of the man she loved.
Their relationship had been a whirlwind, a six month courtship followed by a quick visit to the justice of the piece. What had started as a romance to dream of, flashed to his death, in less time it took them to hit the alter. One month. She had only had him for one month. This just couldn't be happening. But it was. And in the blink of an eye, it was over.
At this point, Madelyn couldn't even begin to think of what she was going to do. Right now, she didn't want to breath again. It was too much.
