Narrator (Jenna's internal thoughts):
In a world transformed by extraordinary abilities, reports of individuals possessing superpowers have surfaced across the globe, giving rise to a new profession: heroes. From bustling cities to quiet towns, stories of these remarkable beings began to captivate the hearts and minds of people everywhere, especially in the United States. However, with the emergence of heroes came the inevitable rise of villains, creating a duality that would shape society. This is the tale of young aspiring champions who embark on a journey to become the greatest heroes the world has ever known, starting with a middle school student on the brink of summer vacation.
As the final school bell rang, echoing through the hallways, Jenna strolled home alongside her friends, their laughter mingling with the warmth of the afternoon sun. They savored their last moments together before the long-awaited summer break, unaware that fate had different plans in store. The vibrant chatter and playful banter filled the air with an excitement that would soon fade into a bittersweet memory.
Upon arriving at her house, Jenna took a deep breath, the familiar scent of freshly cut grass and blooming flowers welcoming her home. She bid farewell to her friends, their cheerful voices fading as she stepped inside. However, as she crossed the threshold, an uneasy feeling settled in the pit of her stomach.
Sitting in the living room, Jenna found her parents waiting for her, their expressions serious. Anxiety prickled at the edges of her mind. "Jenna," her mother began, her voice steadier than Jenna felt, "we have something important to tell you, sweetheart. You might want to sit down."
The words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken truths, and Jenna's heart raced as she took a seat, preparing for whatever revelation awaited her. Little did she know, this moment would mark the beginning of a new chapter in her life—one filled with challenges, growth, and the discovery of her hidden potential.
"Your father has accepted a new job opportunity, which means we'll be relocating to the vibrant city of Musutafu in Japan." Jenna felt her mother's words sting in her heart. America was all she had ever known—her friends, her teachers, her entire life was here. She wasn't sure if moving would turn out to be a good thing or not, but she was about to find out.
"We will be moving in a few days, so it would be wise to start packing your things," her mother continued. "We're moving so soon that you will have time to find a good school, so you won't have to worry about being the only kid with a quirk." Jenna hurried up the stairs, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and fear as she reached for her phone. She wanted to inform her friends about her upcoming move while she packed her belongings into cardboard boxes scattered around her room. The thought of leaving her familiar surroundings made her anxious, but she tried to focus on the positives.
Finding herself in a new place could lead to fresh experiences. She had recently researched Musutafu and discovered that it was a vibrant city bustling with people who possessed unique quirks. This knowledge sparked a glimmer of hope within her; perhaps she would meet others like herself and find a sense of belonging in this new adventure.
After moving to the vibrant city of Musutafu, known for its community of heroes and individuals with unique abilities, Jenna's parents give her an important task. They ask her to find a school that matches her interests and has students with quirks similar to her own. Eager to connect with others who share her talents, Jenna sets out to explore her new surroundings and discover a place where she truly belongs. She begins by searching for schools within walking distance of her new house. One school, in particular, catches her attention: U.A., which stands for "Hero School." Intrigued, she conducts further research and discovers that they offer many opportunities there.
She informs her parents, and they enroll her in the written hero course exam, but the sessions are fully booked until a few days after school starts. However, they create a schedule anyway.
