FORK, WASHINGTON: JANUARY 2005

ASTRID sat her desk, staring at the homework in front of her, mindlessly tapping away with the pencil in her hand. It was dark out now, the sun having set an hour ago, and other than getting up to turn on a light, Astrid hadn't moved. Her thoughts were not with her in the room, having floated away into the atmosphere with her concentration. The Hill girl was annoyed, she had never struggled to focus like this before, and right now she's barely managing to write a sentence.

"Stupid Jasper Hale, with his stupid, stupid face." Astrid muttered angrily to herself, pushing away from her desk and marching over to her perfectly made bed to throw herself on top of it.

Astrid face planted onto the bed with a grunt and pulled her blankets around her to form a cocoon. If she can't focus, she'll wallow in self-pity then. She'll use her time productively and imagine all the ways she can curse out Jasper Hale. How dare he call her bossy, how dare he ignore her, and act like she's a plague, how dare he. Where does someone even get audacity like that? Some research partner he's going to be, if he can't stand to be in her presence without running away the moment, he's able to. People like Jasper Hale were the reason why Astrid hated working with other people, besides why would she work with someone who clearly doesn't want to work with her anyways. Astrid is not a glutton for punishment and knew when she wasn't wanted. If Jasper Hale couldn't stand her, Astrid was not going to stick around.
