Yuvaan
"Did you find her?" I yelled on the phone.
"Sir, we're trying." My PI, Rahul, said.
"Why haven't you checked her office yet?"
"Sir, we're trying to contact her office, but being a Sunday, no one is replying."
"Just find out. Fast." I cut the call.I poured down another drink, my 6th one of today. I don't freaking care. I need her. I need to apologize, I need to give her the 4 years of joy which I made her lose, I need to shower her with all the love which I stripped from her.
I want my wife.I took a shower and then changed into cargos and a sweatshirt and drove to Arush's house.
I rang the bell hysterically and he finally opened it, his face not so happy to see me.
"What are you doing here?" He said, "I told you that you're on your own now."
"Arush. Wait. Please." I said entering, "I'm sorry bhai, please listen to me." I begged.
He sighed, "Come. Sit."
He closed the door as I sat on the couch.
"Arush, I... I'm sorry. I don't know what to do, please help me. I'm not able to find her, I don't know what she managed to do, why can't I bloody find her?! Why isn't anyone answering?!"
He chuckled, "We tried to tell you to listen to her but what did you do? You didn't listen. You had the chance to make amends again. She was your wife bro, you could have easily gotten back."
"She IS my wife." I said, sternly.
"Yeah well, we don't know how that's gonna go now." He said, casually.
"What does that mean?!"
"Yuvaan, I've never beat around the bush for you. I always have been straight up."
"I know."
"Yuvaan, you've broken the girl. She was already broken and you just made it worse. How are you going to fix this?!"
"I don't know, Arush. What should I do? Please tell me? I'm...."
"Bhai, dekh, firstly toh go shower and take a nap, when you're awake we'll sort it out."
"I don't want to nap. I don't want to waste more time, I want my wife in my arms."
"Your wife isn't going to be in your arms anytime soon, Yuvaan, let's be honest. So, get used to being patient."
"Arush... I'm, I'm ready for everything."
"Take a shower, I'll call Rohan over. Go and get yourself sorted and if I see you with another drink, I'm gonna walk away."
"O..Okay." I said and went into his room. The shower was difficult. I tried to be calm.
Everything was reminding me of Nishtha.
What would she be doing right now?
Is she okay? Is she eating well?
What's going on with her?
Where is she?I came out dressed in jeans and a shirt, and then came downstairs, where I saw Rohan and Arush sitting, looking at something.
"Guys?" I said, sitting near them.
"Look at this," Arush said and I looked at the laptop, "This is the call records of your Bua and that voice modulator, and surprisingly, the number your Bua used is the same number that Nishtha was calling regularly that day. It was the same number used by the gambler and your Bua. We just need to know out why did Nishtha need to give Vamika money and how did Bua get it."
"I'll talk to Vamika." I said, sighing.
"Will she talk?"
"I know the truth now, she has no choice but to tell me. I know she will."
"Okay. We should start gathering evidence and get ready to expose her."
"Sir." We heard a knock on the door.
Arush went and opened it, "Rahul?"
"I called him." I said, "Rahul? What have you found? Anything at all?"
"Sir, Ma'am has gone for an international trip sponsored by her company."
International trip?
"When will she be back?"
"Sir, 15th September." Rahul replied.
"That's 2 weeks from now. We have 2 weeks to sort this out. I'm going to go where she is. Where is she, Rahul?"
"Yuvaan..." Arush said, "don't go."
"What?" I asked.
"When there's a cut, you have to stop the bleeding first, before you put a bandaid."
"Bua is the bleeding." Rohan said, "Expose her first Yuvaan, then you can fix your relationship with Nishtha without worrying about Bua."
"Okay." I said, disheartened.
"My PI, Siraj, is going to keep following Bua for more information," Arush said, "Rahul, can you start accumulating all this and please get more information on Nishtha? Please find out if she's okay and keep us updated on her trip."
"Sure, Sir." He said and left.We worked on this for 2 hours after which we finally felt like we had things sorted. Now, I had to find out the truth. From my sister.
"I'm going to Vamika." I said, "I'll be back."
"Yuvaan," Arush said, "Take care."
"Arush, Rohan, I'm sorry for not listening, I'm really sorry, I've been really rude to you all, especially to Nishtha, I... I want to make things right."
"Learn to trust." Rohan said, "we're there for you Yuvaan."
"Thank you man." I hugged them. They're my only friends who have supported me. 4 years ago and even now.
I smiled and left the house to go home.~•~
"YUVAAN NANDA!" I heard Mom scream as I entered the house, "WHAT HAPPENED?"
I looked down, embarrassed at myself, "Mom... I... I'll explain everything."
"You better explain right now." She said.
Anger oozed from her eyes, not just hers, even Dad, who wouldn't even look at me.
I knelt down where Dad was sitting, "I'm sorry Dad, please look at me." I said through tears.
He didn't.
"I'm sorry Dad. I know I should have trusted Nishtha, I... I just... I'm sorry."
He didn't talk to me.
Mom grabbed my hand and pulled me up. I was ready to be slapped but she made me sit down, and then looked at me in anger, "TALK."
"Mom... I... I got this audio file,"
I played the audio file, and I saw Mom and Dad look at it, in concern, but then Mom spoke, "It's not her."
"I... I know but—"
"But you didn't listen to her and assumed it's her and threw her out again. We, being her parents, have to find out through Jeena. Her own parents have no idea what has happened to her daughter." Dad said, not looking at me.
I looked down, embarrassed.
"I'm sorry Dad." I said, and he didn't reply.
"You have no idea what you've done, Yuvaan. You have no idea what you've done." Mom said and was about to leave when I stopped her.
"Mom, please. Wait." I begged.
"What do you want, Yuvaan?!" She yelled.
"I... I just want your support. I'll make everything right Mom. I'll make everything right Dad, please."
Dad got up and left, without even looking at me.
It hurt me but I deserved it.
"Your Dad was the one who paid for her coma. I'm sure you know about it by now. He found her lying outside, he took her to the hospital and the sight of your daughter lying on the hospital bed is not something which he'll forget."
I cursed myself again.
"Mom, I will fix everything."
"You really think Nishtha is going to forgive you?!"
"I know she won't Mom, but, I'll do my best. I promise. I'll bring her back Mom."
"I don't know what to say to you. You had a chance and you decided to do the same thing again. I told you back then as well that she's innocent and now, you are 26, and you still didn't bother to hear her side and you threw her away."
"I didn't.... Throw.."
"Yuvaan, saying things in a euphoric way doesn't make it better. The truth doesn't change."
"I'm sorry Mom. Please." I begged her.
"Don't talk to me, Yuvaan. Don't talk to me until I can see you actually changing." She said and walked away.
I sat down, my head in my hand.
I messed it all up.
I didn't just lose Nishtha, I lost my entire family along with my world.I felt tears coming down my cheek. My heart was tight, every breath seemed like a war with myself. I wasn't able to breathe. I needed to fix things but I felt paralyzed.
"Bhai?" I heard Vamika's voice.
I looked up between my tears, "V...Vamika..." I said wiping my tears, "Yea?"
"What happened to you, bhai?" She said and sat next to me, "Are you okay?"
I felt myself breaking down, "Vamika... I... I lost your Bhabhi."
"WHAT?" She said.
"No... she's... she's fine but, I, I lashed out at her and she.... Left."
"Bhabhi left? Where is she?"
"Office tour."
"She'll come back then, bhai.."
I looked at her, and held her hand, "Vamika, I need you to be honest with me, what happened that day?"
She looked at me in horror, "Bhai..."
"I know she sold the car for you Vami, and I want to make things right, please tell me the truth Vamika. There's nothing left to hide now. Don't be shy and don't be worried about anything, it's all out."
"Bhai.... I... I can't tell you. I'm... I'm sorry." Vamika said and got up.
"I know it's Bua and that gambler , Vami." I said and she froze.
I got up and turned to her, seeing her horrified face, "I know it's them."
"Bhai...." she said, crying.
"Tell me Vamika."
"Okay. I'll tell you everything."✨
