Chapter 2 Part 1

In the previous chapter...

Asha: Thank you for your response... Please make yourself at home...Now about the mission? (looks at Raven)

Raven: Yes, the mission...

[End of Recollection]

Raven: Recently, about a month ago, there have been many crimes reported regarding bank thefts and security breaches, targeting the Salvis bank. We have also found exports of illegal and lethal drugs getting transported to New York from parts of Russia. However when the Russian government was informed of the crimes, they simply said they could not do anything about it unless the UN says something about it. 

Asha: So, basically what you're trying to say is that there might be a powerful person or rather an entire organization behind these crimes, threating the Russian government.

Raven: Yes, and Will is here with us to elaborate more about the situation as he has some of experience of being a Russian military operative and has connections...

Will: Yes, so about the....

(loud commotion erupts outside suddenly)

Will: What was that?! I thought you said your place was not known to anyone except us?

Asha: Oh trust me... it's not cause' of me... not a soul here knows who I am here...

Raven: Let's go and see what's going on...

We rushed to the balcony to see what was going on. A bunch of people surrounded the yellow taped area, trying to take a peek as to what was going on as the police tried to control the situation down there. 

I sprinted downstairs and was now met with a huge crowd gathering around the scene. It was clear that a crime had taken place—detectives were already on-site, examining the area.

As I struggled to get through the crowd one of the police officers steps in says that I would have to move away from the scene. As I fumbled through my pocket to search for my Id, I saw Will and Raven catching up to me. Will steps in and shows his Id and the officer lets us in.

Asha: Judging from the location of the fall and impact on the body, I'm guessing it was an act of self harm.

 I went closer with my gloves on and inspected the person's body. The Id showed that she was a resident of the same building I stayed in and her name was Nadia Spencer, a 24 year old woman. I examined her wrist to find multiple deep scars on her wrist. 

Asha: I can now confirm it was an attempt of self harm but something feels off. Usually a suicidal person cannot cut their wrist that deep even if they really wanted to die...

Will: I agree... We will look into it further after the case has been officially assigned to the police investigation team.

As we were about to leave the scene, I find Raven trembling at the sight of something. Following her gaze, I spotted a hooded man with a very familiar tattoo on his right arm as his sleeves were folded. That's when I realized, that I've seen this tattoo during one of the investigations I was in charge of during a smuggling case. The man I interrogated also had the same tattoo.

I immediately raced after the hooded man, with Will right behind me. Just as I was about to catch him, I sensed someone closing in on me. I quickly dodged and saw another figure lunging at me with a dirk knife. I kicked him away and kept chasing the hooded man, but soon realized Will was no longer beside me. I stopped and looked back, to find Will kneeling down, bleeding badly from his hand. I  abandoned the chase and rushed to help Will.
