I find myself sitting in a interrogation room after I was put in a cell. God knows how many years await but this is strange. A cup of water sits at the table for me so I help myself to it. A figure soon enters, Palenor. A wide smug appears on my face. He sits down across from me.

Me: I didn't expect you.

Palenor: Mr. Quinn, your family is shocked by what you did.

Me: I know, it is now everyday that your son murders people in cold blood and has such a dark past. I do feel sorry for them.

Palenor: You know that you face with life imprisonment and maybe an execution.

Me: I expected.

Palenor: You don't seem shocked or angry, or anything. Tell me, do you feel any sort of emotion outside of anger.

Me: You think that I am a psychopath, don't you?

His silence tells me everything. I chuckle.

Me: I do feel, towards the people that deserve it no, but I do feel sadness and happiness. I am no psychopath, I just don't let it get to me. Why are you asking me these questions?

Palenor: Just out of curiosity.

Me: You really think I am that stupid, don't you. You are here for a reason, otherwise, a detective would be speaking with me.

Palenor: I see that you are sharp. First, I am fascinated by your magic tools. But I don't expect that you would share the information.

Me: And you expected correctly. I am not telling you anything about my powers.

Palenor: I am here to offer you a more favorable deal.

I raise an eyebrow. Intrigued.

Palenor: I offer you a sort of freedom, you won't be prosecuted.

Me: But you want me to join your academy.

Palenor: Correct. You would take on a new identity, your death would be staged and all records of you deleted.

Me: Hmmm, I am guessing that you would have means to monitor and keep me in line.

Palenor: While I will, they won't be as strict as initially thought. Think of it as a reward for killing Anya, a lot of things we dug up about her.

Me: Alright, I will take that deal. But I do have to give you a warning, you shouldn't expect me to be a good little student that is diligent and hardworking.

He smiles and signals to the one sided window. Soon a officer comes and undoes my restraints, it feels much nicer when your limbs are free to move as they should. I am escorted by them to a car, I guess this is a new life. I took this offer mostly because a quiet life is gone and this might actually give me another chance for it. Plus, at some point I will be able to escape if I wish to. We drive off away from the city and through the woods, the drive is an hour or more long and we finally reach the academy. It is even more grandeurs than I thought.
