Prologue

Jisung stood outside in the cold and dark November night, staring up at a fancy sign of a store. Silence enveloped all around him as a chilly gust of wind whipped past him, making him shiver. He was alone which, to be honest, did freak him out but expected because of the time of day. And the store was also located in a more secluded area. But why was he standing outside this late into the night? Well, Jisung was at his apartment, cooking dinner for himself around two weeks ago when he jumped at the sudden ringing coming from his phone. He didn't know that many people, had like a few friends and talked to his parents (his only family) the most so there weren't many options for who was calling. Jisung did answer though to hear the person on the other line saying he'd like to hire Jisung. Now, Jisung was looking for a job but haven't heard from anyone. So although random, he took the chance for the job.

So now, he was standing outside the store about to go in for his first shift. The person requested him to come later since they already had enough people working day shifts. Blinds were covering the window and the door was completely solid so Jisung couldn't tell if anyone was there. Jisung walked towards the door and laid his hand on the handle. He stared back up at the sign, taking a deep breath before pushing open the door and walking inside.

The inside had a rather warehouse kinda look to it, seeming way bigger on the inside than on the out. The walls were exposed and not painted over and the floor was just plain concrete but other than that, it looked somewhat like a normal store. There was an archway leading to the main store area and on either side of that archway was a hallway. A neon sign, shaped like the store's logo on the right side of the archway glowed. Jisung walked further into the store to look at the actual "store" part. Jars of jam lined shelves and tables, decorations helping to make the place presentable. A cashier desk sat on the right wall, some drops of a liquid Jisung didn't recognize smeared across the counter top. Other than that, the counter was pretty clean. There was a light bulb hanging from the ceiling but it wasn't on which meant the only light in this whole room was a small lamp sitting on the cashier desk. To top it all off, there were zero signs of anyone. No noises, movements, nothing.

"This is... something" Jisung muttered, waiting by the counter for absolutely anyone.

A sudden loud voice made Jisung practically jump out of his skin, "Hi! Sorry for the wait, I'm coming!"

"No problem."

"You must be the employee we recently hired. Han Jisung, right?" the boy came with a box, placing it on the counter and walked around to the other side.

Jisung instantly took note of the boy being taller than him. Eyes that were shaped to have a menacing gaze but would have one of the cutest smiles at the same time. Medium length, golden-coloured hair with some Indigo streaks but more near his roots. He wore jeans that were a bit too long for his legs, a white tank top splattered with a bunch of different stuff and a bubblegum pink jacket over the tank top. And two necklaces to tie it all together. For a store that made jams, the boy was for sure a little overdressed.

Jisung nodded, "Mhm."

"I'm Jeongin, one of the co-owners of this place" Jeongin smiled, starting to go through the contents of the box, "Seungmin's the other co-owner but he's currently doing some work in the back. Don't worry though, you'll get to meet him."

"Is there... anyone else working the night shift?" the older questioned, looking around the room.

"Umm... we've just started doing night shifts. You're actually our first hire for one... anyways-"

'He seemed a little eager to move past that' Jisung thought to himself.

"-shall I go get Seungmin?"
