A loud bell was followed by children screaming and running out of the building. As the day in their school starts coming to an end, they run out in happiness, finally excited to get back home. Parents waited for their kids as they smiled, watching them run towards them, eagerly waiting for their reunion. Just a few hours in school was surely boring to some and hell to others.
But not to him, for him, school was an escape from the harsh realities happening in his house he had to witness everyday. He was just a 7 year old kid but the things he saw at his own house was enough to make his mentality be of a 20 year old.
As the children around him still enjoy their beautiful life and innocence, he was forced to mature early, giving up on the childhood everyone loves. Childhood is supposed to be filled with hazy smiles, giggles and innocent mistakes with life morals, slowly blending in to create and help with the future, but his was anything but beautiful. When people wish to relieve their childhood, he prays that his childhood ends fast, cause it was a nightmare for him.
Each step he took towards the gate of the school felt tiring, felt strained. He didn't wanna go, he wished to stay here, maybe live here and not return. But alas, he has to return. With slow steps, he reached the gate as he saw all the parents hold on to their kids, hug them and keep them close, just if his parents... Nevermind.
With heavy steps, he walked all alone to his house. Yes walked, his parents would rather be busy than give him a fare charge to come home or to pick him up. He walked slowly and after around 30 mins, he finally stood in front of the apartment door, staring at it silently as he heard the screams and cries from the other side.
The woman screamt and yelled in agony, as if they were fighting but no one came to help, it was a daily thing for the neighbors now. The boy sighed and reached out to grab the door knob and before he could, the door swung open, revealing an angry man. He glared at the kid before storming off. The kid watched as his dad walked away, holding some bags and stuff. His eyes then went to his mother in the room, who was on the ground, crying.
With slow steps, he walked to her and stared at her, her hand clutching a piece of paper. The kid looked at the paper before slowly hugging him mother, as if trying to give her some comfort. The mother just cried, hard as the reality of the situation dug deeper into her mind. Her husband left Her with their 7 year old.
Present
The man's eyes shot open as he stared at the ceiling. This dream isn't anything new for him. He has been getting it since his childhood. He sighed and looked around, the digital clock on his side showing the time 5:17 am. He slowly got up and walked to the bedside table. Grabbing some pills, he made his way out of the room.
Slowly, he opened the door and looked in, to see a woman sleeping. With slow steps, he went to her side, kneeling down beside her before slowly shaking her, causing the woman to wake up and look at him, "Eomma... Medicine..." She nodded and took the medicine before looking at him and smiling. Gulping them down, she looked at her son, who just stared at her blankly, his ability to show emotions taken away from the harsh conditions he went through. Slowly the lady laid back down as the man tucked her in. "Sleep well Eomma..." She smiled slightly and nodded,
"Good night Jungkook... "
