"Oh my God..." Taehyung's best friend, Hyuna, said as she looked over his shoulder. "Jeon boys at twelve o'clock." Taehyung turned around to catch a glimpse of the two hottest men in Seoul. "Hey, I think Jungkook's checking you."
"Hyuna!" Taehyung whispered as he snapped back around, looking back only a second later. He was lost in Jungkook's gaze as he and Oliver walked over to an empty table, book bags slung over their backs, trays filled with food and drink in their hands.
"Hey, I'm just saying...twin vampires sure would beat one Nephilim."
"Hobi's a great guy, though." Taehyung turned back to face Hyuna. "I just...don't know who to choose."
"Well, if you don't jump their bones, I will."
"Hyuna, you're such a slut." Taehyung joked.
"And?" The two friends let out laughter as they continued talking about hot guys and the idea of dating two vampires at once.
"Hey," A soft, sweet voice began as Taehyung sat in his usual seat at the back of the library. He looked up to see Jungkook, easily recognized by a scar on his cheek. Taehyung's heart instantly fluttered as he gazed into Jungkook's soft crimson eyes. "Can I sit with you?"
"Uh, um...yeah." Taehyung barely managed to get the words out. "Go ahead." Jungkook smiled as he dropped his book bag on the floor beside the table, plopping down into the empty seat.
"I saw you looking at me earlier...in the cafe." Taehyung blushed at his words.
"I, um..."
"No, it's cool." Jungkook couldn't hold back a smile. "I think you're attractive, too." Taehyung smiled as he looked away. "I'd like to get to know you better...if you're not afraid of me."
"Why would I be afraid?" Taehyung questioned.
"Because most humans fear vampires." Jungkook's words all but shattered Taehyung's heart. "They think we're all monsters...demons to be hunted and killed."
"I don't think you're all monsters." Taehyung looked back up, his expression was one of sadness. He knew how it felt to be bullied and labeled as a monster.
"Tell that to the hunters..."
"When I was in second grade..." Taehyung began, looking back at his hands. "I was the target of everyone's hatred. They called me things like halfling and killer spawn. Hell, they even once tried to kick me to death my senior year of high school."
"Why would they do that?"
"Because my mother was a luna." Taehyung looked back up into Jungkook's eyes. He saw his new found friend's eyes had tears in them that hadn't yet fallen.
"You're a wolf shifter." Jungkook said softly. "You're the cub that ran away from your pack, because-"
"Because I can't shift." Taehyung interrupted. "Yes."
"Come on..." Jungkook stood up, extending a hand to Taehyung, silently saying 'please come with me.'
"Are you sure?" Taehyung asked.
"Would I be holding out my hand if I wasn't?" Jungkook said in a sassy tone. "You're part of my henfeira now."
"Henfeira?" Taehyung repeated in confusion.
"Pretty much the same thing as a wolf pack." Jungkook smiled out. "It's just a vampire's way of saying family." Taehyung smiled, reaching out for Jungkook's hand before quickly pulling his own away.
"How do I know this isn't just a fatal attraction?"
"You don't know that it isn't." Jungkook replied, his expression softened. "But I only ask that you trust me enough to believe it isn't." Taehyung hesitated for a moment before taking Jungkook's hand and standing up. He grabbed the book he was reading and, as they walked past the shelf it once sat on, put it back in its spot.
