The next morning, Angela was in the kitchen cooking breakfast for her friends to get the day started, the rest of the girls were doing their morning routines after waking up. "Ooh! Angie made homemade waffles," said Evelyn, "Oh snap, waffles~" Lily sang, "Do I smell waffles?" asked Hailey, "Eat up, we have to go to Mr. Johan's class soon, let's just hope he didn't forget his coffee today, remember last time he did?" Angela said as the girls shuddered at the memory as they couldn't forget that Mr. Johan nearly threw one of their classmates through a window, and Ms. Goodhill had to use her powers to restrain him and calm him down. They all finished and went to his class to hear his new lecture on the dangers of shifting if uncareful. "Notice how the bigger the shifter gets to their complete form, the worse the effects are, my students," says Mr. Johan as he pauses to sip his coffee before continuing, "Now then, any questions?" he asks. Evelyn raises her hand, "Yes, Ms. Porter?" "Is it possible to help the shifter turn back once their form is complete?" "Yes mostly, but it's rare that the shifter doesn't change back. That hasn't happened in over 200 years, thankfully," he says, "If you would turn your books to 247 and read chapters 1-5 pertaining to the lesson please before class is over," he noticed that the class is almost over and kept teaching until the bell rang.
"That was kind of a cool lesson, makes me think if anything like that happens to other werewolves ya know?" Evelyn inquired, "Lynn, we can always ask Ethan if something like that ever happened if you really want to know or Xavier," Hailey teased her, "Hey guys don't look now, but I see Erebus coming this way," said Angela. "Hello Lily, I see you're doing well, I don't smell Percy anywhere near you all," Erebus grinned as he eyed her. "What's your problem with him anyway? I'm not interested in you and besides Percy has a better personality than you," glared Lily, Evelyn snickered at her comment. "Lils, we should get a move on, you and I have language together," said Hailey with a threatening glare to Erebus. As the girls turned to leave, Erebus grabbed Lily's arm and pulled her close to him, "Let me go!" she yelled, "Let her go Erebus before I bury you six feet under," Angela threatened as Evelyn and Hailey were inching closer to him. Erebus simply laughed as he twirled a curl on Lily's head and rubbed her arm, "Percy doesn't deserve her, a beautiful flower such as herself should have someone like me," he said. Lily felt disgusted and was about to defend herself when a seething Percy grabbed Erebus and held him against the wall, the girls looked on in shock as they had never seen him so angry before.
"How kind of you to interrupt my moment with Lily," Erebus said sarcastically, "Don't you ever touch her like that again," Percy said angrily, Erebus smirked, "What are you going to do about it Swiftwater? You couldn't even save your own mom when she was lying on the ground dying", that only made Percy more angry, he tightened his hold on Erebus. "Gonna choke me? You know conflict outside of class-" Percy punched the wall next to his head cutting him off. "Shut your mouth." "Or what?" Percy was about to punch Erebus but he was quickly pulled off by Camryn. "Are you okay Percy?" Lily asked going over to him. "I'm fine," he told her, "Please Percy tell me what's wrong. At least let me heal your hand," she begged, reaching out to grab his hand to heal it. "I'll come find you later, and if it's okay with you and your friends, I'll explain everything. Cam, thanks for having my back," said Percy as he looked at them all with a small, sad smile, "Anytime man, I know how it is," Camryn said gently.
As everyone went on with the rest of their days and settled in for the sunset, Percy walked outside into the forest and sat by the water, pulled candles, lavender and bell flowers, and a picture of his mother out of his bag. After he lit the candles, he laid in the grass, closed his eyes and started to reflect on the memories of her, she was ethereal, long black hair braided in two, sometimes she would wear it out cascading down her back, warm hazel eyes that had a flicker of gold, such a strong and loving Indigenous mother. (Play song at the top for this part and pretend that's little Percy and his family please:)
*Flashback sequence* "There's my darling Percy," she cooed with a proud and loving smile as her son walks to her for the first time, a toddling Percy cheers happily at helping his mom cook one of his dad's favorite desserts and getting a little flour on his nose when she taps it. His mom loved dancing and would dance with him on her feet sometimes and teach him her dances that were passed down to her as a girl. When he would come home with bruises and small tears running down his face from school fights, she would embrace her son and hold him close, reassure him and tell him that she loves him dearly. When she told him that he would have a little sister, he promised that he would be the best big brother ever with the biggest grin on his face. She was the one who also taught him to fight as well as everything she knew. She loved reading as well as art and music. Awena would still make them fry bread whenever he and sister requested it. Awena would still do his hair as he got older because she loved how happy he looked when she was finished. When Percy and his little sister were in the woods with their mother that one night, that was when it happened, he just came back from getting more firewood until he saw Erebus murder his mother and flee and heard her scream, his little sister rushed to her aid with tears in her eyes. "Mommy!" cried Celeste, Percy cried while holding their mom, "Don't cry my papoose, you have to be strong and protect each other. I don't have long now, I love you both, tell your father I love him and that we'll see each other again, take care of one another, I love you Celeste, I love you Percy," Awena said and with one final breath, she was gone. *Flashback sequence over* Percy opened his eyes and hugged his mother's picture close to his heart and started to cry, he blew out the candles, planted the flowers in the ground, and put his mother's picture back in the special spot in his bag so it won't be tarnished, then made his way to Lily's dorm, where they would all be waiting for him. (If the song didn't finish let it play out as it does)
Percy knocks on the door and Hailey lets him in, "Whoa Percy, your eyes, you poor thing," she glanced at him with worry. He looked around the room and saw everyone waiting for him to speak, Lily sat next to him and took his hand and started to heal it with some water she had when he began to tell his tale of woe, "That's why today is so important to me and why Erebus acted more evil than usual, I think about my mom every day, my little sister and my dad are at home so they're going to be there at the festivals and parents day so they come everytime they can," he finished, everyone gathered around to hug Percy, in a silent way of letting him know that they'll be there for him. Everyone left the dorm to head to sleep, Percy slept peacefully with his mother on his mind and still hears his mother's voice calling him, "My Beautiful Boy".
