"Class dismissed" our professor announced.
Finally, makakapag-chill narin ako ngayong weekends!
"Oh, by the way, everyone! Nakalimutan kong sabihin sa inyo na dapat n'yong basahin ang book na The Fantastical World of Elarnia. This will be part of your Performance Tasks, so make sure na basahin n'yo ito" the professor continued.
Hays, ano ba 'yan kala ko pa naman mae-enjoy ko na ang weekend mukhang hindi pala.
"Again, class dismissed!" our professor said.
I noticed some of my classmates frowning and exchanging frustrated glances, obviously disappointed by the last-minute announcement.
They had been looking forward to partying over the weekend, and ngayon parang hindi na matutuloy dahil sa assignment na binigay ni sir.
"Hoy, Faye!" a familiar voice interrupted my thoughts.
I turned to see Jess.
"Are you really planning to read The Fantastical World of Elarnia that our professor gave us?" she asked.
"Of course!" I replied. "I can't afford to lose my grades because of a party."
It was true; I couldn't risk missing out on a Performance Task, especially when my academic performance is so important to me.
"Come on! Lagi ka nalang nag-aaral! Let's go have some fun. I promise it won't be long," she pleaded.
If my parents found out that I skipped studying for a party, siguradong malalagot ako.
"Hindi talaga pwede, Jess. I have to finish this." I said.
"Bawal ba talaga?" she said.
Napansin ko na na-lungkot sya sa sinabi ko. Actually, Jess often invites me sa mga party-party na 'yan pero ni-isang beses hindi ako sumama sa mga invite n'ya. I hate partying kasi. Pero wala naman sigurong masama kung sumama ako diba? Isang beses lang naman.
"Okay, once I'm done, I promise I'll try to catch up with you and the others," I reassured her.
"Omg, really? Finally!" Jess exclaimed.
"Make sure you catch up, okay? Or else I'll be upset!" She added.
She gave me a quick hug, her arms wrapping tightly around me.
I decided to head off in the library trying to find the book that my professor assigned us. At first, I was feeling quite frustrated because I couldn't locate it anywhere on the shelves.
Just when I was starting to lose hope, something fell from the floor. To my surprise, I discovered that it was the book I had been searching for!
After finding the book, I finally sat down in my favorite spot, beside the big window. The sunlight pours into the room, filling it with warm, golden vibes that make everything feel bright and cheerful.
I flip through the pages of the book, I notice that it is quite old. The cover has a brownish color, and there's a musty smell from the dust that almost makes me want to sneeze.
"Just a few more pages," I whispered to myself, but my eyelids grew heavy.
The last thing I remember is the female lead facing a problem in the story, and then— darkness.
