TW SUICIDAL IDEAS, SH MENTIONED

Miley sat leaning against the bathroom door holding the bottle of bleach. This bottle could just end it all for her, the thought of it made her feel weird. Just thinking one sip and it's gone, all the pain and suffering. One sip and she's gone. It had been what about 30 minutes since she picked up the bottle and she still hadn't got as far as opening it. She wasn't scared of death, in some weird morbid way the thought comforted her. Knowing she would be away from everyone here. She could just close her eyes and it would be over. She looked over at her wrist, she couldn't remember the last time they were clean. She was angry. Angry that she had made it so obvious she was struggling and no one batted an eyelid. She'd always noticed with  strangers, friends, her brother. So why had no one bothered checking in on her?

She opened the bottle. The smell of bleach filled her senses, bring the bottle up to her nose, taking it in. This, this pink bottle of bleach is probably the last thing she's going to ever touch, see, smell, taste. She brought the bottle to her lips and took a sip.

TWO WEEKS EARLIER.
It was a normal school day, the bell for first period rang and everyone got up and went to their first class. Miley waited. She didn't fancy being in the middle of the massive crowd of year 7s all running to be first in line to class. She just sat in the atrium and watched. She felt empathetic for the younger years. They didn't know what was coming. Some would be fine, she knew that, she wished she could have been the group of people who were unaffected by the changes secondary brought. She could point out the kids she knew would be affected. The ones who were considered 'different' she was one of them. Seeing them so happy in who they were broke her heart, 'bless them' she thought.

When she finally got up to go up to her first lesson she was interrupted by a tall red-headed girl, her hair up in a half up half down which showed of everyone perfect feature about her. Her skirt was rolled, her shirt was untucked, she had replaced the school blazer for a black jumper, her tights were ripped showing her skin through the holes. Miley thought she was perfect, you could even go as far as saying she somewhat fancied her. She knew she couldn't though, this was her best friend, Jessica Summers. "Where you going?" The girl asked basically skipping circles around her best friend. Jessica always had been the energetic one of the pair. Miley always thought that's what drew her to Jess. She was the sun. Miley liked reflecting her light. "Maths." Miley said bluntly. She didn't have the energy, not today. "Wanna bunk?" Jess asked grabbing onto Miley hand. She thought for a minute. She knew she wouldn't get in trouble, not at home anyway. Her parents were to wrapped up in hating each other to even take notice of their kids.

The pair wondered round the field for a bit before sitting down in their usual space, just talking. Well Jess doing the talking Miley just listened. Miley always seemed to be the one listening. She didn't mind it to be fair, she loved listening to her friend's recent boyfriend. Part of her wished it was her though. "So anyone caught your eye recently?" Jess asked her friend nudging her slightly. Miley shook her head. "Come on." Jess persisted. "There has got to be someone." Miley knew someone had but telling Jess it was her would ruin their whole friendship, everything they had. Miley sat and thought for a minute, thought on a response on what to say the her best friend. "Girls, what are you doing?" The pair turned around to see their head of year, Miss Jenkins, walking towards them. "Fuck."

Miley was put in her head of years office whereas Jessica was taken to the deputy heads office, Miley didn't mind this, she always preferred talking to their head of year anyway. She was left in there for a couple of minutes by herself. She didn't mind this either. Miley had always preferred being by herself then with other people, Jess was the only exception from this.

Finally when Miss Jenkins had returned, she put her blazer on the back of her desk and sighed as she sat. "Miley." She started the frustration clear in her voice. "I've just got one question, what has made you change so much in a year for you to be acting like this?" She said clapping her hands together. Miley just shrugged, she didn't know what had happened, she used to be the happiest girl in year 9, but ever since moving up into year 10 there had been a shift in her. "Miley, what's happened, what's gone so horribly wrong that you are now a completely different girl from who I would had in my year group last year?"  Miley shrugged again, all she knew was girls were bitches, they can be so horrible to someone that change personalities completely as a way of protecting themselves. "Miley, sweetheart, I know last year was rough, but come on this isn't you, this isn't the girl I had in this exact office everyday telling me about all the gossip she had found out throughout the day is it?" This time Miley shook her head. She knew she had changed
whether that being for the better or the worse, she didn't know.

She sat in the year office for another 40 or so minutes before break started, Miss Jenkins let her go. If only she payed a bit more attention to the scars she saw on her wrists when Miley accidentally pulled up her blazer sleeve.
