A short while later, a group of welldressed women in business suits arrive,
holding iPads. The staff invites Hana to
the meeting room, explaining that these
ladies are here to discuss her university
options. As the meeting begins, the
women converse in French, making
disparaging comments about Hana’s
background, assuming she wouldn't
understand. "C'est inscrutable qu'un
homme comme Samuel épouse une fille
comme elle," one of them sneers. Hana,
having studied French, responds
fluently, "Je vous remercie pour votre
souci, mais je suis plus que capable de
comprendre et de répondre à vos
questions académiques."
The women's faces turn pale, and they
quickly shift to English, trying to regain
composure. They begin to test Hana
with academic questions, but she
answers each one flawlessly, showcasing
her knowledge and intelligence. Left
speechless, the women grudgingly
acknowledge her capabilities and
suggest the best university options for her. "You've impressed us, Hana," one of
them admits. "We recommend these
institutions for your law studies." After
handing over the information, they take
their leave, unable to mask their
newfound respect.
After the meeting, a staff member
approaches Hana with a package. "This
just arrived for you, ma'am," he says,
handing it over. Hana opens the
package to find a brand new iPhone, a
gift from Samuel. She smiles, touched by
his thoughtfulness. Despite her
excitement, she finds the iPhone a bit
confusing, being used to Android. She
spends the afternoon trying to navigate
it, laughing at her own confusion.
As evening falls, Hana hears the sound
of Samuel's car pulling up. She hurries to
the door, her face lighting up as she
sees him. Samuel steps out, his
expression softening as he sees Hana's
welcoming smile. "It's good to be home," he says, pulling her into a gentle
embrace. "How was your afternoon?"
"It was interesting," Hana replies, sharing
the details of the meeting and the
surprise gift. Samuel laughs, "I knew
you'd handle them well." They walk
inside together, and Samuel heads
upstairs to change. When he returns in
his comfortable pajamas, he finds Hana
still wrestling with the new iPhone. He
chuckles, sitting beside her. "Need some
help with that?"
"I think I'm getting the hang of it," Hana
says, grinning. "But a little help wouldn't
hurt." They head to the dining room,
where a cozy dinner is set up for them.
Samuel takes Hana’s hand as they sit
down. "You know, seeing you wait for
me at the door... it's something I look
forward to every day," he admits, his
voice tender. Hana blushes, feeling a
rush of warmth. As they enjoy their meal, Samuel and
Hana talk about their day, sharing
stories and laughter. Samuel feels a
deep sense of contentment, knowing he
has someone to come home to who
genuinely cares for him. Hana, in turn,
feels secure and loved, appreciating
Samuel's efforts to make her feel special.
After dinner, Samuel suggested they
review the list of universities provided by
the advisors earlier. "Let's take a look at
these options," he said, pulling out the
documents. "I want you to have the best
education possible."
Hana nodded, sitting beside him as they
spread out the papers. "There are some
really good universities here," she
observed, scanning the names. "Which
one do you think I should join?"
Samuel leaned back, his eyes thoughtful.
"I have to admit, I don't know a lot
about colleges in this area. I trust your
judgment more than mine on this."
Hana smiled at his honesty. "Well, I
really like the sound of this university in
another town," she said, pointing to one
of the names on the list. "It has an
excellent law program."
Samuel frowned slightly, considering her
choice. "I understand why you'd want to
go there, but I have some concerns," he
began. "Firstly, it's quite far from here.
The distance would make it difficult for
you to come back home often. And
secondly," he paused, looking directly
into her eyes, "I w
Hana's expression softened at his
concern. "I see your point. I didn’t think
about the distance and how it might
affect us."
Samuel nodded, grateful she
understood. "Please choose a university
that's in this town. It would mean a lot
to me to have you nearby"
Hana smiled, appreciating his protective
nature. "Alright, how about I continue at
the university I'm currently attending? It
has a good reputation, and I like it
there."
Samuel’s face lit up with relief. "That
sounds perfect. And about my condition
– I still want to drop you off and
introduce myself as your husband."
Hana chuckled and nodded. "I expected
that. And I’m okay with it." She reached
over and squeezed his hand. "Thank you
for being so thoughtful and caring,
Samuel."
He kissed her forehead gently.
"Anything for you, Hana. Your happiness
and safety are my top priorities."
After their discussion about the
universities, Hana decided to retire to
her own room for the night. As she
stood up, Samuel gently took her hand.
"Remember, if you need anything, I'm just a door away," he said, his voice soft
and reassuring.
Hana smiled, appreciating his
thoughtfulness. "Thank you, Samuel.
Good night."
"Good night, Hana," he replied, watching
her walk down the hall. He felt a mix of
protectiveness and admiration for her
strength. Hana entered her room,
feeling grateful for Samuel’s respect for
her space and independence.
Later that night, Hana was jolted awake
by a nightmare. She sat up in bed, her
heart pounding, fear gripping her. The
room felt too big, too empty. She
hesitated for a moment, clutching her
pillow, before deciding to seek comfort.
With trembling hands, she walked to
Samuel's room and knocked softly on
the door.
