I’m here to stay,
no need to choose.
You’re mine to keep,
and I won't lose.
__________________________________Jungkook came home from university. The mansion felt quieter than usual. The low hum of the mansion's air conditioning was the only sound, but the tension in the air was palpable. He dropped his bag by the door and headed upstairs, his mind still preoccupied with the day's lectures, until he reached his room. The door was slightly ajar.
Curious, he pushed it open and found Taehyung sitting by the window, staring out into the garden. There was something about his expression that was off. Taehyung didn't even notice him at first.
"Hey," Jungkook greeted, his voice soft but steady. "What's wrong?"
Taehyung's eyes flickered to him briefly before looking back out at the garden. He didn't answer right away, his fingers fidgeting nervously with the hem of his shirt. Jungkook stepped further into the room, closing the door behind him with a soft click.
"Talk to me, Tae," Jungkook said, his tone gentle but persistent as he took a step closer to him.
Taehyung finally turned to look at him, his face a mix of confusion and unease. "I... I didn't know what to say," he admitted, his voice shaky.
Jungkook furrowed his brow in concern. "What happened?"
Taehyung hesitated, then finally spoke, his words coming out almost in a whisper. "Jimin... he confessed to me."
Jungkook's heart skipped, but his face remained calm. He could feel something tightening in his chest. "Confessed? What do you mean?" His voice held a quiet edge, though he kept his composure.
Taehyung took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly. "He told me he loves me. And... I didn't know how to respond."
Jungkook's chest tightened. His gaze darkened, but he forced himself to maintain control. "So, what did you say?" His voice was smooth but carried a subtle undercurrent of tension.
"I didn't really say anything," Taehyung admitted. "I was... confused. My mom came in and stopped everything. She told Jimin 'no'-from me." He looked away, clearly frustrated by the interruption. "Then she asked me to leave so she could talk to him."
Jungkook's jaw tightened as he processed this. The idea of Jimin confessing his feelings for Taehyung, only to have it cut short by Mrs. Kim, didn't sit well with him. He took a slow breath, stepping closer to Taehyung.
"You don't need to worry about that," Jungkook said smoothly, his voice softening as he reached out, lightly placing his hand on Taehyung's shoulder. He didn't let go, keeping his touch possessive, reassuring. "You have me."
Taehyung met his gaze, his eyes filled with uncertainty. "I just... I don't know what Jimin meant by love. I care about him too, but..." He paused, glancing down at the floor, as if searching for the right words. "I don't know if I love him the way he loves me."
Jungkook's fingers tightened on Taehyung's shoulder, the possessiveness in his touch unmistakable. He leaned in closer, his lips brushing lightly against Taehyung's temple in a tender but almost suffocatingly intimate gesture. "It's okay," Jungkook murmured against his skin. "You don't need to figure it out with him. You have me, Taehyung. You don't need anyone else."
Taehyung's eyes fluttered shut at the unexpected contact, but the warmth of Jungkook's words comforted him, even as his thoughts remained clouded.
Jungkook, sensing Taehyung's momentary vulnerability, slid his hand from his shoulder to the back of his neck, pulling him just a little closer. "I'll always be here for you," Jungkook continued, his voice soft, but there was an underlying possessiveness in his words. "You don't have to think about Jimin. You have me."
Before Taehyung could respond, Jungkook pressed a quick, light kiss to his cheek-a soft, fleeting touch that lingered like a secret promise. The kiss felt gentle, but the intensity behind it was undeniable.
Taehyung looked up at Jungkook, his heart racing. He wasn't sure why the gesture affected him so deeply, but the warmth of Jungkook's closeness made him feel a strange comfort.
"I care about you, Tae," Jungkook whispered, his lips grazing Taehyung's ear. "I just want you to be happy." His tone was sincere, but there was something darker beneath it. A possessiveness that Taehyung couldn't quite place.
Taehyung felt his pulse quicken. "I know," he said softly. "I care about you too, hyung."
Jungkook's eyes flickered with something darker, but he smiled, his hand still resting on Taehyung's neck. "Good," he murmured, his thumb brushing the skin of Taehyung's neck. "Because no one else is going to take care of you like I will."
Taehyung's mind spun with confusion, but his body felt rooted in the present, in Jungkook's touch. He couldn't explain it, but in that moment, everything else seemed to fade away.
