**Chapter 5: A Stubborn Heart**
The early morning sun peeked through the heavy curtains of Arjun's room, casting soft shadows on the cold marble floor. Arjun sat at his desk, his eyes scanning through a stack of papers, his fingers moving with precision over his laptop. The world outside seemed distant, like a realm he rarely entered. His mind was consumed by work-by the deals he needed to finalize, the strategies he had to perfect, and the responsibilities he had inherited from his family.
But amidst the rush of thoughts and calculations, there was one thought that kept resurfacing-Avni.
Arjun frowned as he pushed the thought aside. **"Kya ho raha hai mujhe?"** He muttered under his breath. **"Main kahan se apne dimaag ko isse door karun?"**
The events of the past few days had left an undeniable mark on him. There was something about Avni, her laughter, her energy, the way she carried herself with so much grace and ease, that made him feel... unsettled. He wasn't used to feeling anything beyond control, beyond strategy. Emotions were a weakness. He had learned that the hard way.
But Avni... she was different. And that, in itself, was a problem.
The incident at lunch the previous day replayed in his mind. **"Maine kyun usse aise baat ki? Uski shayari? Unse dil ki baat kehna..."** Arjun shook his head, frustrated with himself. **"Yeh sab bilkul bekaar hai."**
But it wasn't just the lunch. It was everything. The way her presence seemed to change the atmosphere of a room, how her gaze lingered on him when she thought he wasn't looking, how she made him feel like there was more to life than just deals and business. And yet, he rejected it. He rejected her.
He knew the only way to protect himself, to protect his heart, was to keep his distance. He couldn't let himself get lost in her world, no matter how much she made him question his own.
Arjun stood up abruptly, pushing his chair back with force, determined to focus on the task at hand. **"Kaam pe dhyaan dena hoga. Bas kaam."** He whispered to himself, as if the words alone could ground him.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the haveli, Avni was sitting by the window, her legs crossed as she watched the world go by. She had always been an early riser, preferring the peace of the morning to the hustle and bustle of the rest of the day. The soft breeze brushed against her face, carrying the faint scent of jasmine from the garden below. But today, as she sat there, she couldn't shake the thought of Arjun.
**Avni** (softly to herself):
"Arjun ji... aap har waqt itne serious rehte ho. Kaise aapko samajhu?" She whispered, almost as if seeking answers from the universe itself. She had never met someone like Arjun before. His stoic nature, the way he carried himself with such calculated precision, it all intrigued her. At first, she had thought it was just his personality, something he had developed over the years. But now, she wasn't so sure. There was more to him, something hidden beneath the surface that she couldn't quite understand.
She tried to dismiss the growing curiosity, tried to ignore the fluttering in her chest every time their eyes met, every time their conversations lingered for a moment longer than necessary. It was foolish, she told herself. After all, he was a businessman, focused only on his work, uninterested in anything or anyone else.
**Avni** (musing):
"Mujhe kyun lagta hai ki kuch badal raha hai? Kyun har waqt, jab woh mere paas hota hai, mere dil ki dhadkan tez ho jaati hai?"The thought of Arjun, with his impenetrable walls and quiet confidence, made her wonder what it was about him that called to her in a way no one else had. She wasn't the type to fall easily, and yet, around him, everything felt different. There was something magnetic about him, something that pulled her in, even though he seemed determined to keep his distance.
