"Maahi, wake up! You're going to be late!" my mum yelled from downstairs
Well I also have a younger sister, who mimics everything I do. If I were to fall off a cliff, she'd do it too.
Why? Because that's what she's been taught. That's exactly what I was taught: "Whatever you do, she'll learn."
Why is it that way?
As soon as my alarm went off, I rushed to get ready for school. I quickly got dressed, brushed my teeth, and ran a brush through my hair. Then I ate a quick breakfast and headed out the door. I walked to Janvi's house, and we went to school together.
At school, the day went the same.
Physics-boring, chemistry-boring, biology-interesting, psychology-rattafication, english- lets not talk about that!
Days in school were passing by so quickly. It seemed like just yesterday that we were starting the school year, and now it's already July!
While I was struggling with physics and chemistry, Vaibhav was struggling with biology and physical education. Seriously, he says that physics and chemistry aren't that tough and that I'm only bluffing about it.
Janvi hates Vaibhav. I think she sees him as a rival for my affections. He's just a friend, but she thinks he stole me from her. I'm not sure what she means by that.
I'm very possessive of my friends, and if they're talking to me, I expect them to be paying attention to me and me alone!
I stared blankly at the chalkboard, her mind wandering beyond the confines of the classroom. Another tedious lecture on a sunny day. My gaze drifted to Vaibhav, who was discreetly texting beneath her desk.
"Can we skip this one?" he asked, whining. It was the start of chemistry class, and we were having an exam in two days. "No, we are not," I said.
"Yes, we are going to skip this class," he argued.
"Go ahead, then," I said. "I'm not joining you. I'm not going to be an accessory to your crime."
Vaibhav was one of those guys who always had a scheme going. He was always trying to get me to join him in his latest adventure, and this was one of those times. I knew better than to get involved.
"Please, come with me na and I'll buy you a full plate of momos with my own money," he pleaded. "And there will be other people there too."
uhh momo? I think its reasonable now!
"ok done, but Janvi will also join"
"nah she'll not"
"Why not?"
"I don't like her"
"Shutup Vaibhav"
"acha ok lets go before sir arrives"
I secretly looked into janvi's classroom and Janvi's eyes locked with mine , and she mouthed, "Bunk?"my heart skipped a beat. I hesitated, then nodded almost imperceptibly.
During the next break, Janvi, Vaibhav, Tanmay, Janvi's childhood friend, who had now become a good friend of vaibhav and suprisingly they both are in the top five players of our volleyball team, and I huddled in the corridor.
"Are we really doing this?" I whispered, my voice trembling.
Janvi grinned mischievously. "Why not? We're not missing much."
Vaibhav chuckled. "Besides, one skipped lecture won't ruin our lives."
Tanmay nodded. "We can always catch up online."
We slipped into the deserted library, the silence enveloping us. Dusty shelves towered above, casting long shadows. we settled into a hidden corner, giggling softly.Janvi pulled out her phone. "Selfie to commemorate our rebellion!"
"What the hell janvi? phone?" I shrieked
"Shutup maahi" grumbled tanmay
These dim witted people don't know that if we get caught then there are chance of getting suspended.
The topic then changed and we played truth and dare.
As we shared stories, jokes, and secrets, the library transformed into our own hidden world. Time flew. The bell signaling the end of the period startled us.I glanced at my watch. "We should head back?"
Janvi nodded. "Before we get caught!"
Then we quietly slipped out of the library, merging with the bustling corridors.
I felt a little guilty skipping the class but i think it was worth it!
