Ever wondered what it feels like to be pressured for something you'll spend the rest of your life regretting if it turns out to be a mistake?
Yeep! That's my current situation.

I'm Britney Couper, aka "the lonely sassy bitch" among my colleagues and employees. CEO of the Couper's industry in New York City.

Just turned thirty recently, rumors say I'm a selfish cold hearted bitch, caring only about money and myself. Although I see that as a compliment.

Five years have elapsed since my tumultuous breakup with Dustin. Since then, I've been more focused on my career, earning me the title "business tycoon."

Most of the people in my circle are married or probably in serious relationships, meanwhile my love life has been sitting down on a couch for quite long not giving a sign of leaving the single's association anytime soon.

Anyways, society and my family assumed that my lack of interest in men might result in me being single for the rest of my life.

Sounds drastic right?!

Ok, who said I wasn't interested in getting married...

My singleness is not a reflection of my worth, but a reflection of my unwavering commitment to myself.

They fail to comprehend that my singleness is not a curse, but a deliberate choice, a testament to my resolve to await the arrival of the "right man," one whose existence would complement my own.

𝑃𝑢𝑓𝑓... at the right time, the right man would come for me.

Who's with me on this?...

It's Monday morning
Up and preparing for work
(𝑃ℎ𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 ...) it's definitely my assistant I said confidently.

Turns out it was my dad.

My parents got separated when I was six. Dad's been single ever since, meanwhile Mom got remarried when I was ten.

Despite everything Dad makes sure he calls constantly to check in on my sis and I.

"Hello, Baby doll," Dad said, his voice cheerful.

"Hello, Dad." I smiled.

"How are you doing, princess?" He said

"Great, just getting ready for work." I replied trying to get my stuff together.

"Quit and come back to Daddy," he joked.

I laughed, knowing I had to wrap up the conversation.

Dad's calls always brighten my day. I miss him and mum being together, although they're happier apart I guess. My sister, Sasha, has her differences with Dad, but at the moment she's married.

As I stepped into the office building, I was greeted by the familiar hum of fluorescent lights above which reflected off the marble, casting an icy glow. My stilettos clicking on the polished floor.

My gaze swept across the room, my eyes narrowing in disgust. I was a force not to be reckoned with, my sharp jawline and piercing green eyes commanding attention. My raven-black hair cascaded down my back like a waterfall of night.

My employees, usually diligent and professional, were lounging around the office, chatting loudly and laughing.

Immediately they sighted my entrance, they began to whisper low while trying to act all coordinated, "lonely sassy bitch's here." They said as I could read their lips.

One of them, a young man, was balancing a cup of coffee on his desk while playing a game on his phone.

My eyes flashed with annoyance, and I walked over to the young man's desk. I gave him a wild stare of disgust, my eyebrows raised in incredulity.

The young man's eyes snapped up from his phone, and he froze, his face pale. He quickly set his phone aside and stood up, trying to compose himself.

"Sorry, ma'am," he muttered, looking sheepish.

I turned away, satisfied that I had made my point. As I made my way to the elevator, I caught the eye of one of my senior employees, who was busy scrolling through social media on his computer.

"Excuse me," I said, my voice firm but controlled. "I think it's time for a reminder of our company's policies and expectations."

The employee looked up, startled, as I stepped into the elevator. The doors slid shut behind me, and I let out a deep breath.

I was already having a bad day, and this was not helping. Little did I know, things were about to get even more complicated.

Two minutes into my office, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in" I said.

"Morning, Britney," Rachel my assistant chimed, her voice warm and inviting.

I flashed a bright, artificial smile, my lips curling upward. "Morning, Rachel."

As I settled at my desk, my gaze swept the office. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, mingling with the hum of printers. I was the queen bee, and everyone knew it.

But beneath the facade, my thoughts churned. Why did I even bother with makeup today? No one truly sees me. The loneliness gnawed at my heart.

My phone buzzed, breaking the spell. I answered, my voice husky and confident. "Britney speaking."

The caller was a potential client, and my instincts kicked in. I charmed and persuaded, my words dripping with honey.

As I hung up, Rachel approached, a hint of awe in her voice. "Mam'm, you're on fire today!"

My smile faltered for a nanosecond before I recovered. "Just doing my job, Rach." But the mask was starting to crack.

I checked my call log and saw that I missed Dad's call twice.
Wondered why he had called again.

When I called back, he stated it was an invitation for me to join him on a vacation to Hawaii.

Hawaii? That's where my ex-fiancé, Dustin, lives. The memories still sting.

I declined Dad's invitation, citing work commitments and tried explaining with reasons why I wouldn't be available but he simply refused and insist I take a break after he hung up on me.

Little did I know, this conversation would set off a chain of events.
