that face is basically how I imagined kuroo's face the whole of this chapter..

You and kuroo arrived to the Nekoma's volleyball room. You followed behind him, entering, as he gently pushed the door open with a creek. It was nice, not too nice, but it was ncie enough for a group of boys to hang out or change for their volleyball practise.

Your eyes wandered to the line of lockers, each one an extension of someone's personality. Stickers, scribbled doodles, hanging charms, photos pinned with tape—no two lockers looked the same. Each told a story, even if only in pieces.

Kuroo silently walked ahead, making his way to his locker. He opened it and pulled out a small stack of papers, each covered in scribbles, circles, and barely legible annotations. You stepped in closer, peering over curiously.

The paper looked like a scientific code or something written by an alien race, and yet he flipped through the pages like it was second nature.

One thing was painfully obvious: Kuroo Tetsurō was not a neat note-taker.

You smirked quietly to yourself, but it faded as you looked at his face. No jokes, no usual cocky smirk, no eye contact. Just silence.

You weren't used to this version of him. Not that you knew him that well, but the Kuroo you had met so far had been... charming. Teasing. Expressive.

But now? Now he looked like he hadn't slept, and when he did glance at you, there was something unreadable in his eyes.

On the floor near the back wall, Yaku and Lev were seated, casually eating their lunches. Lev was halfway through a cheese sandwich, which he was absolutely destroying like it had offended him in a past life.

"Hey, Captain," Lev grinned, cheeks full of bread.

Yaku looked up, crunching on a bag of crisps, "What are you doing in here? Don't you usually have lunch with Mei and the others?"

Kuroo barely glanced at them. "Me and Y/N are sorting stuff for the trip," he replied flatly.

You didn't miss the shift in tone. Short. Sharp. Not the usual laid-back drawl.

Your stomach tightened.

Yaku and Lev exchanged a glance. Even they picked up on it.

Yaku raised a brow. "Oh, nice. You excited for the trip, Y/N?"

You turned to him and smiled, trying to shake off the awkwardness. "Yeah, honestly. I've never done anything like this before, so I'm a little nervous... but I know it'll be fun."

Yaku nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, for sure. You'll meet loads of new people. The Karasuno guys are chill— oh and not to mention that fukurodani will be coming! you exited to see bokuto kuroo?!" Yaku waited for an enthuastic reaction from the captain, but it never came.

But kuroo, didn't respond, his eyes where too focused on scribbling down dots of information on the paper that, really- didn't have much more room for.

Yaku's bros furrowed. Kuroo would normally be punching the air if he got a chance to hang out with bokuto,

Lev squinted. "That's weird. Usually, the second Bokuto's name is mentioned, he starts ranting about how loud he is and how strong his spikes are."

"I don't even think he's listening to our conversation," you muttered under your breath as you sat down in one of the plastic chairs.

Yaku gave Kuroo a light nudge. "Captain?"

"Yeah?" Kuroo replied, eyes still on his paper.

"We're gonna see Bokuto tomorrow at camp."
