Chapter 15: Finally There's Something

I am so sorry for the very long delay. I knew moving to a different country would be disorienting, but I never thought I would struggle as much as I do now. Things are settling down so I hope to be uploading more often. It likely won't be monthly, considering my responsibilities now that I'm here, BUT I hope you all enjoy this chapter regardless! It's a slow burn but it's nice...I think.

Chapter 15: Finally There's Something

"Wanna go see a movie?"

Unik felt her heart skip a beat as she looked up from her gym bag. The two schools had just finished their baseball game which stood in as their second activity for the goodwill event, instead of one-on-one battles, something Gojo managed to make happen behind the backs of the two principals. Unik tilts her head as Yuji looks down at her with a beaming smile, he was holding the baseball bat over his shoulder as though he was about to swing another home run.

"Now that I don't have to hide in the basement we can finally go somewhere outside of school!" Says Yuji with a glint of excitement in his eyes.

"I'd love to go but aren't you tired of watching movies? My brother had you watch movies to train you with curse energy output in your free time." Responds Unik as she tries to school her expression to be as neutral as possible, hiding the anticipation her racing heart betrays. Yuji puts the bat down and thinks for a moment.

"I mean there are still some new movies we could watch and we can get popcorn and go to the arcade," says Yuji as he strokes his chin. Unik turns back and smiles, "Sure, why not...shall we get the others or will it just be us?" asks Unik as she turns away to look at her bag so Yuji doesn't see the faint pink blush forming on her face. A small part of her wanted it to be just her and Yuji but at the same time she was conflicted with wanting to get to know Kugisaki better and to maintain a good relationship with Fushigiro.

Oblivious Yuji continues, "I'd like to do just the two of us, think of it as me paying you back for burning the fish." Unik chuckles as the memory of Yuji yelling about the fire in the pan flutters through her mind, "or it could be my treat because I headbutt you in the face shortly after," says Unik, secretly happy that it will be just the two of them.

"How about I treat you to the movie and you buy the popcorn?" Suggests Yuji with a grin.

"Sure," says Unik as she stands up unable to hide her excitement any longer, she gives a bright smile causing Yuji's eyes to widen slightly. His breathing catches in his throat, he couldn't help but admire the way the sun shone against Unik's long white hair, the way it kissed her pale skin and made her blue eye glow. As if his hand has a will of its own, Yuji reaches out and gently unties Unik's eye patch, he lets the fabric fall into his hand, revealing her purple eye. To her own surprise, Unik doesn't flinch, she felt safe enough to let Yuji remove her eyepatch.

"You really should show off your purple eye more...it's pretty," says Yuji. Unik's face is now turning from pink to red, "thanks," she whispers. A moment of silence washes over the two of them, they stand there comfortably in each other's presence...until it is interrupted.

Gojo suddenly appears and wraps an arm around his sister's shoulders. Both Yuji and Unik jump a bit at his sudden appearance. Gojo grins at the two of them, he looks at his sister's rose-tinted cheeks and then at Yuji who is still holding Unik's eyepatch.

"What's been happening here?"

"Nothing..." mutters Unik "Yuji was just complimenting my eye." Gojo's grin widens slightly.
