#9 ★ Past

(Y/N's POV)

A few students converse at their own table, some are laughing, fooling around, and eating quietly. The cafeteria bustled with students as the lunch break comes to its peaking point-me, Beomgyu, and Kai sat at a table near the cafeteria entrance.

It has been a few days ago since I made mistakes that I soon have regretted. All of those mistakes are made because of my problems, and I know for a fact that I can be a handful when I have a problem. A couple of days before, I made a stupid sarcastic statement at Karina, and I can't help but feel frustrated knowing that she wasn't happy with what I said to her.

For the past few days, Karina has been very quiet and collected inside our classroom, but I know that she's trying to avoid me because of our recent few encounters in school. It seems like she's feigning innocence whenever I catch her trying to avoid me, but I never really paid attention to this and thought that it's for the better.

I remembered yesterday, I was about to bump into her in the hallways after lunch time, and I was thinking of talking to her then. But as soon as she took that left turn and saw me, she immediately retreated in a hurry as if she saw some ghost.

My head was a bit fuzzy, but then I spoke my mind as we eat at the table. "Shucks man, what the heck?" I said in frustration as I mess my hair up, then I leaned closer to the table with a frown on my face. My eyes was fixated on my meal, and I can feel Beomgyu and Kai's eyes focused onto me.

Beomgyu spoke with his initial playboy nerd response, even though he's not the type of guy to get girls in a club, "Come on dude, you've been mauling over that problem since yesterday. There's three billion girls in Earth." Upon hearing his words, I shot him a glare because it made me feel more frustrated knowing that the same can go for Karina.

'But then again, why would I care? It's not like I'm into her.' I thought as I mess my hair even more. Kai continnued to eat with his cheeks puffing like a chipmunk's. He looked at me a bit funny looking before speaking in a sincere manner, "Why are you even thinking of it? It's not like you like Karina, right? She's popular with guys. You hate attention. Totally not a match." I looked at Kai knowing that what he said about me was true, then I looked at Beomgyu as he nods even though he's new to the group circle.

The problem on my shoulders was slowly being lifted making me sigh from exhaustion, and then I looked at my food and started eating. I was trying my best not to think about it, and so I focused myself with eating my meal quietly. While we were eating, I heard a very loud thud.

The loud sound echoed through the cafeteria, resonating through every corner of this huge place. All of the students turned towards where the sound came from, and some murmured from what they were seeing. It also caught our attention, so we stopped eating and stood up from our seat to get a better view of what was happening.

As we turned towards where the sound came from, my eyes landed on Karina standing infront of a man who looked disheveled. The guy was tall and good looking, and he seems like he could pass as an actor. I couldn't help but look back and forth between him and Karina, it seems like there was an intense atmosphere around them.

The guy spoke in a sincerely manner, and Karina frowned as she showed disgust in her face. "Jimin, can we just fix this?" He asked offering his hand, it made me think whether who this guy was so I started eavesdropping from people around us. But I didn't get any idea whatsoever.

Karina subtly turned her head away and back at the guy, and then she spoke her voice laced with anger. "I don't want to be apart of this, didn't I told you that?" Then she walked away, storming out of the room as everyone slowly goes back to their own businesses.
