I sat in darkness, tears streaming down my face, surrounded by the silence of our apartment.
Shubman's doubts had unleashed a torrent of memories.
Flashes of my past assaulted me.
My parents' laughter echoed in my mind, reminding me of our family vacations to the beach.
Their smiles, their warmth, their love.
But it was all taken away.
A car accident on a rainy night.
A fateful night that changed my life forever.
I was 16.
Alone.
Orphaned.
The pain was suffocating, like a heavy weight crushing my chest.
I couldn't breathe.
Depression crept in, a silent companion that haunted me for years.
Shubman's voice pierced my thoughts.
"Ishan, what's wrong?" Shubman asked, concern etched on his face, his eyes filled with worry.
I looked up, hesitant to reveal my inner turmoil.
"Nothing," I lied, trying to hide my tears.
But Shubman saw through me.
"Ishan, don't shut me out," Shubman said, his eyes pleading, his voice soft.
I took a deep breath, letting the memories flood me.
"My parents," I whispered, my voice trembling. "The accident. The loneliness. The depression."
Shubman's expression softened.
"Tell me," Shubman urged, his voice gentle.
And I did.
I shared my story.
My parents' love.
The accident's devastation.
The loneliness that followed.
The depression that haunted me.
Shubman listened, his eyes filled with compassion, his heart overflowing with love.
"I'm here for you, Ishan," Shubman said, holding me close. "I'll never doubt us again."
I broke down.Shubman held me close.
"I'm sorry for doubting us," Shubman whispered. "I was blind to your pain."
"I thought I'd lost you," I confessed.Shubman's grip tightened.
"You'll never lose me," Shubman promised.
Tears streamed down my face.
This time, tears of joy.
