They stood in front of the local neighborhood shopping store. Andi held her camera in one hand, and nothing in the other. CJ turned his head to Andi an looked At her side face. She looked like perfection to him, but she couldn't see that because of how depressed and insecure she became.

As always, Andi walked inside hesitantly. She's never been caught steeling the beer from the store, but with CJ? What would he say? Andi had to get the beer for her mum or she'd get beaten to pieces. It's happened before. A diagonal scar is left under her right eye.

The two kids snuck to the back where the store held the wine, beer, drugs. Ya, you get it. But, they were to late.

"Hey!! What do you scrawny kids think ya're doing?!" A man stood at the opposite end in the open. Andi's hand rested on one bottle of beer. Quickly, she took the one and another and ran out of the store, CJ running close behind. With the fifteen dollars in her back pocket in her light colored Jean pants, why didn't she use it? Well, she'd get fined for it and Miss Andi and her drunk mum can't afford that kind of money.

Andi and CJ ran far and hard. The man isn't even nearly close by. Did the two kiddos run fast? Yes! About 12 miles down three blocks, where they stood in front of Andi's house.

Andi stood still, well not exactly. Her shoulders were violently shaking. Yes, you guys it. She was crying. Andi was crying silently but hardly. She couldn't stop, the tears kept coming. Out of the corner of his eye, CJ saw her. He took the two beer bottles, set them down, and took Andi's arm gently. He say her on his lap, and Andi's head fell into his chest. Even though she was sobbing, CJ still held her. He softly rubbed her back and whispered, "Andi.." He trailed off.

After a few minutes, Andi and CJ still sat on the porch steps. Andi still in his lap, CJ still rubbing her back. They just sat there quietly, not a word spoken. Andi's right arm laid between the two, and her left hand sat still on CJ's chest. CJ moved slightly to look at Andi, she was sleeping so quietly. He smiled to himself, and continued to sit, not sure of what to do.

CJ took his two arms and wrapped them around Andi. Standing up as quietly and smoothly as he could, CJ made his way to the front door. She was like a feather in his arms. Opening the door, CJ walked up the stairs, carrying Andi up all the way bridal style. Silently walking into Andi's room, CJ put sleeping Andi on her pink sheeted bed. Taking the messed up covers, he moved them up, covering Andi's entire body, except her neck and up.

Andi fluttered her eyes open, she could tell they were swollen and red-like from crying earlier. 'Where's CJ?' Andi thought, flipping her covers off of her. She opened her bedroom door and walked downstairs quietly. Not a single stair creaked.

"CJ?" Andi called out. After a few seconds, CJ popped out through the kitchen door. A handsome, wide smile appeared on his face, Andi quietly laughed at his goofiness and walked over to him.

"What are you doing in the kitchen?" Andi asked curiously. CJ, still looking into Andi's light, crystal blue eyes, he said:

"Making the lovely someone a lovely lunch. Well... A peanut butter 'n jelly sandwich." CJ shrugged and blushed, making Andi smile. Wasn't he sweet? Andi nodded and took a seat at the 4 person table.

"Here, for the lovely lady." CJ says, faking a British accent. Andi blushed and took the plate of her peanut butter 'n jelly sandwich made by CJ. CJ continued to blush and put away all the ingredients he used. Taking his own plate of sandwich, he sat next to Andi and began eating.

Andi's face went dead sad and serious before she took her second bite in the sandwich.

"Andi, you alright?" CJ asks after noticing her.

"Did you bring in the b-" CJ cut her off.

"Yes, it's ok. I have them put up." CJ nodded slowly. Andi showed a weak smile, not caring to hide it.

"What time is it?" Andi asks.

CJ took a look at his watch, "3:48pm." CJ left at 4, when his family would pick him up since they we visiting their grandma's who lived an hour away.

After eating, Andi wiped off the table, set the chairs back, and stood quietly. CJ through away the two empty plates.

Ding-dong-ding-dong-ding-dong

Yep, CJ's family was here. His older brother, younger brother, and mum and dad were here.

"I'll walk you out." Andi said as CJ opened up the door. His older brother stood at the opened door.

"She's gonna come out to the car." CJ said. His older brother, Preston, nodded and walked ack to the car. Andi silently walked behind CJ.

"Why, you must be CJ's new friend?" CJ's mum spoke up. Andi smiled and nodded. CJ's  younger brother stared at Andi, he liked her. But he didn't know her.

"I'm CJ's mum, this is his dad. Our oldest is Preston, and our youngest, Ricky."

Ricky was 12, CJ 14, and Preston was 18. Andi smiled at the family, they seemed so kind, just like CJ. Andi heard the front door open, and she turned her head. It was her mom, and everyone else turned their heads as well. A worried and panic look flushed onto Andi's soft, delicate face. Her mum was drunk, again. She could tell by the way she walked, did anyone else notice. Yes, all of them did.

"Is she drunk?" Andi hears Ricky whisper to CJ and Preston. Tears come back down her face like a river with no rocks in it to control the flow.

"I-I've got to go." Andi says, her voice cracking.

"Andi, wait!" CJ jumped out of the car and ran up to Andi and her mum.

"Mum, let's go back inside, ok? It's much better in the house." The tears still flow. Andi couldn't believe that CJ's entire family saw her drunk mum. CJ looked at Andi, he wanted to help.

"CJ, get back in the car. We're late!" His dad called. CJ turned to leave, after a minute or two of hesitation. He whispered a goodbye and left.

"CJ, your friend's name is Andi?" His mum asked curiously as they drove off.

"Well, it's short for Andilynn."

Turning back to Andi, she shut the front door of the house, guiding her mum to the living room couch. But, before her mum sat down, she pushed Andi down to the ground. And hard.

"Mum?!" Andi shouted as loud as her sick voice could go. But, her mum didn't stop. She got up from the couch, and walked lumpily to Andi. Bending down, she slapped Andi across the face. Four times, left, right, left, right. By now, Andi was crying harder then two weeks ago.

Getting up, Andi ran for her room. But she was to late, her mum grabbed her by the leg and dragged her to the ground.

"MUM!!" Andi shoved her mum away from her, and she limped fast away to her bedroom, locking the door behind her. She lay on her bed, crying out a rainfall of tears. She didn't like when her mum was drunk. Never, ever. She'd get beaten pretty much ever time.

Andi took the knife from her bedside table and ruined her two weeks clean. She screamed in pain at every stab. Blood dripped off her wrists and onto the floor and bed.

Crying herself to sleep, she couldn't even imagine what she'd tell CJ.
