Brynn's POV

I walked over to Jason's after calling and talking to Indie to make sure she could keep Quinn for a little longer. She promised if he went home with Kai or Becca, she'd let me know. I knew it was possible. He loved playing with all the kids here. They were all very good friends, and very protective of each other. He met me at the end of the driveway.

"Hey. I thought I was coming over?" I asked, smiling at him. He looked like he hadn't slept and like he'd possibly been crying. I was immediately concerned.

"My place is kind of a wreck. If you don't mind, could we talk at your place? Since Quinn's out?"

"Okay," I smiled at him. He took one step towards me, and I don't know how it happened, but I grabbed his hand with mine. I held onto it and led him home. It felt a little like I was bringing a stray puppy home. He just trailed along after me, holding my hand equally as tight. I looked back at him at one point, and through my red hair blowing in my eyes, he looked shocked, but with a blush all over his face. He looked a little dazed too, almost like he couldn't believe I'd grabbed his hand.

I turned around and kept walking. A blush came to my face as I smiled, biting my lip. I liked seeing him like that. He looked so innocent. I walked up to the front door and took out my keys. I opened the door and pulled him in. I let go of his hand, but I couldn't say anything. I was too nervous now that he was in my home. I slowly turned and looked at him. His face was still red, and he was looking at his hand, dazed.

"How was your trip?" I asked, pulling him out of his daze. He looked confused and then he looked upset. "Didn't you say you had to go check something?"

"I...uhh..." he scratched the back of his head. "Could we sit and talk? It's some heavy stuff and I'd rather not be standing for it." I nodded and moved over to the couch. He sat on the other end and turned toward me. He had his body facing toward me, but he was looking at his hands, picking at them.

"I never knew my dad. I never knew who he was or where he came from. All I knew, my whole life, was he was someone my mom met in college. She was in love with him. But he left her to 'follow family obligation' and marry someone else. She was heartbroken, but she moved out of state and never looked back. Never tried to find him. So, I did one of those DNA kits a few months ago. I just wanted to see if I had any family and if he'd ever submitted his to try to find me. Mom said she told him she was pregnant and that's when he told her about his 'family obligation'. I wasn't too surprised when I started getting matches to a family I'd never heard of. My aunt was the one I matched with. She was shocked when she found out my age."

He looked really sad for a few moments before continuing.

"She told me both her brothers were married that year. However, only one of her brothers was a playboy 'back in the day before he settled'. Well...when I heard that, I was more than a little angry, but she told me his name. So, I contacted his office, and his wife answered. She hung up on me and since then, I've redirected all notifications of family to me. None of them were to be sent to her. She wanted to keep quiet and 'not say anything' because it would 'look bad' on my old man. Since that conversation with her three months ago, I've found eight siblings. All younger than me. He also had a child with his wife who is one of the eight. After finding the youngest ones, I emailed all of my findings to his wife. Everything. She was appreciative. She didn't know where to start. But...she's my stepmom. She was the one who set this trip up. I just went to give cards to my younger siblings, and meet with the older ones so we could discuss what we wanted to do about him and the back child support."

     "How did it go?"

"Good. There are three of us who are over the age of eighteen, so we're putting our back child support aside in case our younger siblings need or want it for something. The three of us decided that we were going to watch out for them since we were set in our careers. I've paid off my student loans. They don't have any. We're okay. But we agreed, that our younger siblings and their moms are nice and didn't know about our dad being married. They weren't trying to trap him or anything, so, we're looking out for them."
