CHERRY APPROACHED THE CROWD!

Most of the competitors were gathered together, eagerly watching a guy cover his shoe in wax.

"What the hell is this?" The boy with the American flag mohawk questioned.

He and some other Miyagi-do students were walking alongside Cherry's dojo. The red-haired girl appeared beside them.

"They're gonna kick the sign." Cherry informed, joining the group.

"Where were you?" Romeo questioned, drawing the attention of the others.

"Just wandering." She shrugged.

"Doesn't matter." Jocelyn shut him up, knowing the younger girl didn't enjoy being questioned. "This is Devon, Demitri, Hawk, and Miguel."

"This is Cherry." Carlos introduced, jabbing his finger towards the girl.

"Garcia." Devon finished the name. "We know."

"I've seen your footage. You're good." Hawk shrugged like it was no big deal.

"Thank you." She nodded.

Either she was closed off, awkward, or thought she was too good to be talking to them.

Demitri could see why. She was a title holder, and they were some kids from Los Angeles.

Miguel, who had been in her position once, recognized that she just couldn't socialize. Her blank stare gave it away.

"Vlad, Vlad, Vlad, Vlad!" The crowd cheered as the boy ran towards the sign.

He kicked, and the wax on the bottom of his shoe left a white mark, a couple of inches beneath another one. The crowd groaned at his loss.

Porcupine boy did a slow clap. "Not even close. No one beats mine."

Cherry's eyes narrowed at the line. It was perfectly placed a little higher than the average kick, but too low for someone of the boy's supposed degree.

He'd kicked that low on purpose. To trick people? She understood why. It gave him enough to be intimidating, but not enough to show his true potential. Not until the game started.

Romeo glanced towards the girl. She looked deep in thought. She always looked like that.

He pitied her, truly, and he never cared much about anything. He knew she was looking at the details and over-analyzing them.

Maybe one day she'd learn to live life outside of the dojo. Even her mind was tainted.

"Team USA. Everyone knows America's best at everything, right?" The boy said sarcastically, earning laughter from the crowd. "Let's see! Let's see! USA! USA!"
