November 18th 1961
I woke up one morning and got out of bed. I didn't want to go to school but remembered we have a break until December 28th because our school caught on fire. I was very happy. Anyways, I woke up put on some dark blue baggy jeans with a black tight shirt and I put on some random sneakers.
Anyways I did my morning touring than went down stairs. And there 'gang' is here. Ugh, I don't mind them coming here but it's like there living here. But I don't mind because there all hot. Exempt my brothers. Anywaysssysysssy I got this things for Dallas and Steve, I think that's there name. "Morning sleepy head" soda said while messing up my hair. "Get off me will ya" I say pushing him off oh me. "Kat go easy on him" I heard Darry say and I just rolled my eyes.
"Always Kat we've been thing that you should start coming down here more often" Darrel said. "Nuh uh sir no chance" I say because I don't wanna stay down here with 7 men. Let alone having to live with 3. "Come on we're not that bad" two said, I think that was his name? I dont know but I heard his real name is Kieth. "Oh yea? Not bad just drinking beer in the morning with cake. Oh so not bad fucking dumbass" I say. "Katherine language!" Darrel says.
"Ya ya whatever I'll be in my room if you need me" I say walking to my room. Then I feel someone pick me up. It was DARREL?! "Ugh you bitch put me down!" I say. I didn't even realize it. "What did you just call me" he put me down. "A bitch" I said while an 'I don't give a fuck' type of look. Then the gang started laughing except Johnny. "Room now!" Darrel said, "well BITCH I was trynna go there until you picked me up!" I say running to my room.
Dallas pov
Me and the gang were just hanging down stairs then there sister came. Damn she's fine but I would never date her. Plus I think she liked Steve. Anyways when she came down and was told that she had to stay down here with us she got an attitude.
She didn't give no fucks. That is what I liked about her. She was just like me but a female version.
Katherines pov
Why do I have to stay in my room for an hour. Don't get me wrong I did say I wanted to stay in my room. But I wanted to go out of th house and go for a walk or something. Awhile later Darry came in " come down stairs now!" He said I just rolled my eyes and sat on the couch. "What had gotten into you little sis" soda said.
"You got suspended 8 times in only 3 months, you got arrested 2 times this month, you've been smoking drinking and cursing a lot. And back talking!" Darrel said. I rolled my eyes and got up to get a drink. "Don't you walk away from me when I'm talking to you young later" Darrel shouted. So I started running. "Why are you running?!" He asked, "well DARREL! You told me not to walk away from you so instead of walking I'm running away from you" I said with sass.
He picked me up and placed me on the couch. "Listen, I'm gonna be hoe until tomorrow so you're gonna have to stay with the gang all day today so they can watch you" Darrel said. "No!no no no I'm not staying down here with a bunch of animals!" I say. "Excuse you!" Two and Steve said. "Yes, and I'm mostly talking about you too!" I say winking at Steve. Darrel seen them got mad and started giving me a lecture. So I pulled out and cancer stick and started smoking it. "And if I see you smoked more than a pack today I'll skin ya. Ya hear?" Darrel said before he left so I just shook my head 'yeah' but I knew I was gonna smoke more than a pack.
I seen two bother Johnny. " look at the puppy sitting on the couch" two said making the gang laugh. Johnny looked sad. "Shut up Kieth or I'll kick your head in!" I said. "Hey! My names two-bit so you better start calling me that!" He said. "Leave the damn kid alone will ya" I say hitting him in the back of his head. I sat next too Johnny. He looked scared? "I don't bite Johnny" I said looking at the tv. I felt him looking at me " I'm sorry I just get scared around new people" Johnny said. I knew he was sacred because there dump socs almost beat him to death. His folks already do that so why do socs gotta do that.
I got up and grabbed Johnnys hand took him to the kitchen with me. "Johnny, would you like some hot chocolate?" I asked very nicely. "Uhm yes please" he says. I get him some hot chocolate and got me some too. "Why'd you bring me in here, if you don't mind me asking" Johnny asked shaking a little, "Johnny I don't want you too be scared of me. I know I know that the socs hurt you but listen to me closely. I promise you I'll never ever let them touch you again, I promise." I say and he looked relaxed. And then we just talked to awhile. Then the phone started to ring so I went to get it.
Kat- Katherine Curtis speaking.
Officer- hi Katherine, do you know anyone names Riley jones?
Kat-yea, she's my best friend why what's up.
Officer-I'm sorry but she passed away this morning.
My heart dropped.
Kat- can you please tell me how she died?
Officer-she got a heart attack. Her dad had beaten her to death. I'm sorry for your lost.
Kat-no your not
Officer- what?
Kat-you're not sorry! You're a police officer. You guys don't ever do anything. You guys are completely useless. All you do is kill innocent people and let murder leave.
Then I hung up the phone to see the gang looking at me. "Everything sleight Kat?" Pony asked. "I'm fine, I'm okay, haha I'm great. I'm perfectly fine pony leave me a,one!" I say the. Running to the porch infront of my house. I started sobbing. My child hood best friend had been killed by her own father. "You okay Kat?" Dallas asked walking up to me "im fine" I said with a little laugh "I know something's up. I can see you've been crying. I know we don't know each other like that but you can always tell me something" Dallas said and he sounded very sweet. "I SAID NOTHING IS WRONG GOD DAMN IT WINSTON!" i say running to the phone to dial darrys work number.
Darry-a worker speaking
Kat-Darrel? *you sniffed*
Darry-Kat? What's wrong baby girl.
Kat- Darry! Riley died this morning.
Darrel-what!?
Kat- the police called saying she passed from her dad beating her and a heart attack.
*I said loud enough for the gang to hear*
Kat-Darrel can you come home. I need you right now I-i-I'm scared and I don't know what to do. I'm having a mental breakdown *I say sobbing*
Darry-alright baby girl hang in there I'm coming home.
*he hangs up*
I fell to the floor breathing heavily and shaking. "Kat! Breathe it's okay we're here" soda said. "I can't do this anymore soda. S-s-she's dead! It's all my fault!" I say sobbing in his arms. The whole gang surrounding us. "No you did Kat. There was nothing you could've done" steeple said. "I'm a bad person! I should've ran away with her." I say breathing harder. I was having a panic attack. Darrel came in just in time. "Breathe baby girl every thing will be okay I promise." He said but that made me cry even more. "Darrel I miss her already. I can't stand not seeing her for a week. It's my fault I should've seen her yesterday" I say . "Let's get you to bed okay?" Darrel said. He picked me up and placed me on his bed and laid with me.
6 hours later
I woke up 4 hours ago but I was too drained to get up. I didn't feel normal. I felt lost and empty. I don't have my best friend with me anymore. Now she was in a beautiful place called heaven, I know she would be there because she was an angel.
She was beautiful,sweet,smart and funny. Always made sure I was okay. It hurts knowing that I can't hear her beautiful voice or see her beautiful face anymore.
I know it's gonna get harder and harder. But I had the gang to be there for me.
After I was humming a song yelled 'new flesh' my current joys. Which was mind and Riley's favorite songs, soda,Dallas,Steve,Johnny,and Darrel came in. "Come on, we're going out to eat. And you're coming with " soda said. I just shook my head 'no'. Next thing I know I was pulled off the bed by my legs. I seen Dallas to it.
I kicked him right in the jaw. "Oh man" Dallas said. I gave him the 'im sorry' look.
I got up and just put on sweatpants and one of Riley's hoodies. Then we went to dingos.
