Burning~

Chapter 1~

Panting was all I could do-shit- I can't believe I was already late for my first day of work at a new job. After finally getting my license as a certified doctor, I tried my luck at the prestigious hero academy, UA. I honestly thought I had no chance of getting a call back, but guess fate had other plans, since in just three days I went from having a quite life in the outskirts of Japan, to living in one of its biggest cities, Musutafu.

With haggard breaths and a tired posture I had finally reached those famously humongous blue door that belonged to UA. After catching my breath I started marching towards the inside of the academy. The school year had yet to start, so it was peacefully quiet. I was supposed to be meeting with the principal to discuss my work arrangements and what I'd have to do since UA already had a nurse . After a little hard work I was able to find the room that belonged to none other than the principal.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Come in!" the principal exclaimed in a cheery voice, and following his commands I went in, trying to hide my nervousness with a confident facade.

"Oh hello there Ms. L/N, I've expecting you it is so nice to meet you in person" the principal says as he walks my way, or should I say as he waddles my way. I can't lie I searched how the principal looked like beforehand, but still I was quite shocked at his stature and formal demeaner.

" Hello Principal Nezu, I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity" I reply as I shake his...paw?

"Oh no need you'll be benefiting the school with your knowledge I'm sure, let's go sit down so we can start talking about how you'll work here." 

I quickly sat, I couldn't help but get a little nervous and flustered at his formal behavior, maybe because this was my first job outside of a hospital, but I was surprised at how different you get treated in these two different places. 

" As you may know, UA already has a nurse, Recovery Lady, however, as time passes and takes its course, her power continue to diminished, at least according to her. You see, Recovery Lady was worried she wouldn't be able to do a good job on the upcoming school year alone, and with this worry she came to me hoping I'd find someone to help her with all the healing, and so this is why you're here. For the time being, your job here at UA academy will be to help Recovery Lady with all the healing she is uncapable of managing, as well as some paperwork that comes with the job. You'll obtain the same benefits that our teachers receive, of course. Well, that's all I got do you have any concerns?"

"No sir!" I bit my lower lip to stop a smile from showing on my face, this is real, it was actually happening, I'm actually going to work at UA.

The principal chuckled, which brought me out of my thought.

"Well that's all I had to say, your actual first day will be in a week once all the students come in."

"Again thank you so much for this opportunity Principal, I'll give it all that I got!"

The principal laughed at my excitement.

"I'm glad to hear that L/N, glad to have in the staff, see you next week"

And with that I offer a quick bow, and leave the office.

I was internally squealing. A dream come true. I couldn't believe it.

"This definitely deserves some sake" i whisper to myself, with a happy grin splashed on my face whilst I contemplated on what could possibly pair up with the sake, maybe soba? or no maybe sushi would be better since I was in Musutafu. 

Then suddenly as I rounded the corner of the hallway, my body met something hard, a wall? couldn't be.

"Shit" I let out a pained groan after landing on my butt.

Suddenly a voice brought me out of my trance.

" Apologizes, are you alright Ms?" The mysterious voice asked with a bit of a cold tone while offering his hand for me to take. 

Thump. Thump. My heart starts beating at his voice, so cold yet so hot. I couldn't help it. And in an instant I looked up. 

Unbeknownst to me I help my breath after staring into his eyes, which held the color of an endless abyss that you couldn't help but get swallowed by.
