"The sky is so pretty," Adira murmured, her voice barely carrying above the faint whistle of the wind. Her wide eyes scanned the endless expanse of blue, the sunlight illuminating the wisps of hair that framed her face.
"Vi, are you sure this is a good idea?" Adira called, her voice tinged with strain as she struggled to find footholds in the jagged wall. Her arms ached, the rough texture of the bricks scratching her palms as her shoes slipped against the uneven surface. She tried to blow her brown fringe out of her face, the strands making it hard for her to see what she was doing
"We're almost there," Violet calls back, stopping to look down at Adira, Powder, Mylo and Claggor. Vi was in the lead, just like she always was. She had some big plan, something that would be able to get them a bit of money, and of course, the four of them weren't too far behind her
"Almost there, she says," Mylo grumbled under his breath, rolling his eyes as he hoisted himself up another few inches. He was lagging behind the group, his feet scrabbling noisily for purchase on the wall. "Easy for her to say; she's not stuck down here."
"Aw man," Mylo complained, rolling his eyes as he struggled to pull himself up. He was at the bottom, Claggor just above him, wiping some sweat off his forehead before continuing after Adira who was just under Powder.
Quit whining, Mylo," Claggor chided from just above him, pausing to wipe the sweat off his brow. "It's not like we've never done this before."
"Doesn't mean I like it," Mylo shot back, scowling.
At the top of the wall, Vi swung herself onto the roof with practiced ease, her boots landing with a soft thud on the weathered wood. She exhaled a small huff and turned to survey the cityscape stretching out before her, "hey Powder, Adira. Come take a look," she called to the two youngest of the group, the two that only recently had been able to come on 'missions' like this.
Adira grunted as she reached for the edge of the wall, her fingers just shy of grasping it when a hand shot out to help her. Powder's face appeared above her, grinning as she latched onto Adira's wrist.
"Gotcha!" Powder said, her small frame trembling slightly as she pulled her friend up with a surprising amount of strength.
"Thanks," Adira panted, catching her breath as she scrambled onto the roof. Powder gave her a reassuring smile, and the two walked together toward Vi, their steps falling in sync as they approached the edge. The sun was bright, the sky was beutiful and blue, it was so beautiful compared to the undercity. Of course the undercity was beautiful in its own way... but this really was something else
"Whoa," Powder breathed, her blue eyes sparkling with awe as she took in the sprawling view of Piltover. The golden sunlight bathed the city in a warm glow, the pristine streets and elegant architecture contrasting starkly with the grime of the undercity below.
"It's... it's beautiful," Adira whispered, her lips curling into a wide grin. She took a step closer to the edge, her gaze fixed on the shimmering expanse of the city. The sunlight danced in her eyes, and for a moment, she felt untouchable, as if the oppressive weight of the undercity had melted away in the warmth of the sun.
"It's nice getting above it all huh?" Violet asked, her hands on her hips as she looked at the two girls reactions, a look of amusement and awe on her pale face.
Mylo finally hauled himself over the edge, collapsing onto the roof with a groan. "If I never climb another wall, it'll be too soon," he complained, flopping onto his back as Claggor clambered up behind him with much less drama.
"You're such a baby," Claggor muttered, brushing dust off his hands before joining the others near the edge.
The peaceful moment was interrupted by a loud rumble from above. All five of them instinctively flinched and looked up, their eyes widening as a massive airship floated lazily across the sky. Its vibrant colors glinted in the sunlight, casting a long shadow over the rooftops. "One day, I'm going to ride in one of those things," Powder says with a wide grin
