The royal problem ▪

Alright let's talk about something that gets under my skin every time I open Wattpad.

I'm sure you've seen it too-every other book has an ML, who's a prince of somewhere in Rajasthan And not just a prince, mind you. This prince is always a CEO of a multi-billion-dollar company, owns a few castles, dozen of villas and and a pair of private jet so that he can transport his newly wed wife to a honeymoon destination while she is asleep (because why not?).

And he's not just sitting on his throne drinking chai. No, he's so so hardworking, so so talented, and of course, super self-made... I mean, he's the heir to a royal fortune (very self made, I must say)

Sorry, but you don't get to the top of the business world just because you're from a royal family, there are more than N no. of royal families in India.

Also, This prince is always the heir to one of the three most famous royal families in Rajasthan: Jaipur, Jodhpur, or Udaipur. Come on, people. Rajasthan isn't just about these three cities. Ever heard of Jaisalmer, Bikaner or Chittorgarh? There are plenty of princely states in Rajasthan with their own history and culture-maybe, you could pick one of those for a change.

Also, I've seen way too many books with a prince/ king ruling over a non-princely state-like, seriously? Don't just Google 'cities in Rajasthan' and chipkao one in your story because it sounds royal enough

What a delusional prince btw.

An by any change, your poor/orphan/bechari/innocent FL marries a prince, don't get too excited about her living in the palace. Because, most palaces are now luxury hotels.

And, of course, Our hot and handsome prince, He's so kind, so compassionate, so perfect, a true gentleman. He never makes a mistake, and when he does, it's always with the most sincere apology that makes you swoon because of his down-to-eartg princely etiquettes.

Sorry to break you bubble But the thing is, this perfect prince is just a fantasy-and not even an exciting one at that, koi prince tumhe kyu hi bhaav dega.

Also, Have you ever checked out the actual stories of royal families in India?

No? Well, let me tell you, the reality is not all rosy posy. It's a series of crimes, family feuds, dark histories, and some serious politics. Royals aren't just charming princes with ideal lives; they're often tangled in power struggles, financial issues, and a lot, a lot of controversies. But no, Wattpad writers prefer to make them look like they're living in a fairy-tale castle, with not a care in the world, always looking to swoop in and save the day with their bank accounts, private jet and power

My point is, while there's nothing wrong with enjoying a good royal romance (I mean, who doesn't like the idea of a charming prince?), it gets a bit old when every single ML on Wattpad is practically a carbon copy of the last one.
