"Impressive" Riven said as he stared down the kingdom that hosted the trials.

Impressive wasn't really the right word, it looked dark, as if it was only made for these trials, which probably was the case anyways.

"So how do we get in these trials?" He asked. "We already are approved" I answered.

He frowned as he looked at me. "What do you mean?"

"I think Phoenix was pretty excited that the Prince of Shadows wanted to join the trials" I smiled. "And his girlfriend"

"My girlfriend?"

"Yes, me" I smiled even wider at him. "I obviously couldn't apply as myself, I don't think he would allow the sister of Chaos to enter the trials"

"Right, so you're just gonna pretend to be my girlfriend" he mumbled as we walked to the castle.

There were no trials during the first few days, it was about getting to know the other contestants and perfecting our skills.

But it was just cruel, they wanted you to bond with the others so it would be even harder to kill them, or see them get killed.

We walked to the entrance of the castle, where someone was waiting for us. "Name?" She asked bored.

"Riven, Prince of Shadows"

The girl immediately looked up, at Riven and smiled at him. "I've heard a lot about you, I'm sure you'll easily win this"

I almost rolled my eyes at that. She was flirting with him.

"Well, let's hope so" Riven smiled.

"If you get out of there alive, maybe we can get to know each other better?" She asked, a slight blush on her face.

"Uh-I'm sorry to disturb this little moment" I interrupted her. "But I am his girlfriend"

She chuckled, looked at me before looking back at Riven. "That's too bad" she gave Riven a key, probably to our room and I was already pulling him with me.

"Jealous?" He asked, putting his hand on my back. "No, she just liked your title anyways" I shrugged.

I took a step away from him, making his hand fall down my back. I didn't need to feel his gentle touches.

I had a boyfriend.

"Or because of my pretty face" he smirked, pulling me closer to his body again. "You're supposed to be my girlfriend"

He was right, but he was just using this as an excuse to touch me. To annoy me because he knew I didn't want him to touch me.

We walked through the castle in silence, but I am sure he heard what the girl said. I was sure he was thinking about it now.

If you get out of there alive.

I didn't tell him that 90% of the contestants died. 9 out of the ten of us didn't make it.

So that also meant..

We walked in the room where everyone assembled, it was the first time we were gonna see the other contestants.

I didn't really recognize anyone, which was good. It meant that they weren't that impressive or dangerous.

But everyone turned to look at us, pretty sure some of them definitely recognized Riven.

That was the reason why I grew my hair and dyed it another color, so they wouldn't know who I am.

So they wouldn't see me as a threat.

Maybe I should've told Riven. He could've dyed his hair blonde or something, it would still look pretty cute.

But unfortunately, I didn't so everyone knew who he was.

I looked at him, he was looking around the room, probably also trying to find someone he recognized.

Until his face dropped, he frowned a little as he was looking at someone.

"Laila?"
