"Alright class, please be quiet. I know the holidays have ended and we all would all rather be home, but I have a home to pay for. Right, everyone please open your books and start..."

The rest of the teachers rambling became a blur to Liana. She just sat in silence, focusing more on the birds outside of the window. She sighed and then began to focus on her work.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick

Tick.

Tick.

Ring!

The bell rang, the teacher attempted to get the students to settle down and leave the classroom without rush, but just sighed and sat down on their chair after one attempt.

Liana packed her bag, grabbing her blazer and stuffing it inside, she began to walk out, checking the time on her phone.

"Liana!"

A voice called out. She looked around.

"Ah. Hi Millie."

Her eyes focused on a shorter girl, her bright green eyes making her stand out. Liana focused on her medium-lengthed hair, tied up in a lazy braid. Her shirt was untucked, her jumper nowhere to be seen, and her blazer was hanging on the tips of her fingers.

"Tuck in your shirt."

Millie just stuck out her tongue and sighed.

"Jeez, you take your role as student council president too seriously! Why not just be a little more carefree and let me off? I am your BESTEST friend after all~!"

Liana just stared at her in disbelief, breathing in and out before walking away.

"That's a 15 minute detention after school then, for violation of the dress code."

Millie just stared in shock, her mouth wide open as she tried to call Liana back.

"Hey! Wait! That's so unfair! I thought we were friends! This isn't what friends do, how could..."

Her voice slowly faded away as Liana walked further away, walking to her next lesson as the bells rang again. Right on time.

"Good morning Liana, the seating plan has changed once more. It's on the screen if you need guidance."

The teacher said with a smile, sitting down at her desk.

"Thank you, miss."

The class flew by, Liana only heard the important things the teacher said. She seemed to be way more distracted lately. She has never seen or heard of an 'Emilie' in the school before. Could she be new? That was probably the reason. Liana just sighed. She was thinking too deeply into this. Just because she found another student pretty doesn't mean it has to affect her focus in class.

Ring!

The bell rung, students pouring out into the corridors once more. It was break now.

Liana walked inside the library, greeting the librarian with a small wave and eventually sitting down in her usual spot. She picked out a book that she found was interesting and began to read. Time slowly began to pass as she focused on the book. From another persons point of view, it seemed that Liana was so immersed in the book, that not even someone throwing a brick at her head would get her attention.

She hummed quietly, focusing on the words when the bell eventually rang. She put the book back in its original spot and got up from her place. She waved the librarian goodbye and walked to her next class.

The day finished in a breeze. Liana walked outside the school gates, students filling up the area almost immediately. She walked over to the park close to school and sat on the closest bench she could find. She took out a book and began reading.

It was quite a long book, over 400 pages, which is why by the time she finished, the sun looked as if it was about to set soon. She could have finished it quicker, but she wanted to focus more on the book as it was a nice day to read, and she couldn't leave it to waste.

She began to walk home, putting on her headphones and began humming a tune quietly, until she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder. She almost jumped, but looked behind with a calm expression. It was Emilie.

She took off her headphones, focusing on the shorter female infront of her.

"Hey there! You're the one I bumped into today, right? I never got your name!"

She said, smiling brightly as if the two were best friends who hadn't seen each other in months.

Liana just stared at her with a blank face, turning around slowly.

"It's Liana."

She said, before putting her headphones back on and walking home.
