THE LOVE OF MONEY

Oh, ye, the destroyer of friendships,
The solution to hardship,
A veil that covers truth and makes evil sprout.
You put smiles on faces when within reach,
But bring tears to those far from wealth.

A camouflage to the lazy,
Who think acquisition is easy,
Without you, one feels inferior,
With you, superior.

The lion that roars in man's pocket,
Makes him spend lavishly.

Spend! Spend!! Spend!!!
The voice of money directs man:

"Damn! Damn!! Damn!!!"
"I've spent it all," says the man who had it all.

Money, the root of all evils,
Money, the source of suffering,
One that gives blame to the innocent
And praises the wicked saint.

Money rules, money ruins,
Money brings peace, money ruins peace.

Money! Money!! Money!!!
We all want this money,
But what if it never existed?
Then the latter would not either,
And we wouldn't have to worry
About a piece of paper
Whose colour is all that matters.

If we had agreed
And stuck to our trade by barter,
Then friends wouldn't turn to enemies later
And peace will prevail
For we all are one.
