In the days that followed, Alaric couldn't stop thinking about Elesis. Not just because of her beauty or her strength, but because of what she represented: a path to something greater. When the knights prepared to leave, Alaric made a bold decision.
"Commander Elesis!" he called out, running to her as the troops prepared to depart.
She turned, raising an eyebrow. "What is it, farmer?"
"I want to join you," he declared, his voice steady despite his trembling hands. "I may not have much to offer, but I'll do whatever it takes to stand by your side and protect this empire."
Elesis studied him for a long moment before finally speaking. "The life of a knight is not for the faint-hearted. It demands strength, discipline, and sacrifice. Are you prepared for that?"
"I am," Alaric said firmly.
A faint smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "Very well. Prove yourself worthy, and perhaps one day, you'll find your place among us."
As the knights rode off, Alaric followed, leaving behind his simple life for a journey that would test his limits and bring him closer to the woman who had unknowingly captured his heart-and who, one day, would become The Legendary Sword of the Empire.
