Thanksgiving has come and gone here in Canada, and with Remembrance Day behind us—a time to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Canadian Armed Forces—you know what that means: It's Christmas time!
Some might say it's too early, but honestly, with the world feeling more chaotic every day, I say bring on the holiday cheer and let it last as long as possible. For me, that means putting up the tree, turning on the holiday tunes, breaking out my favourite holiday movies and revisiting the classics.
One I always recommend (and wonder why it isn't more famous) is the 1945 gem Christmas in Connecticut. It's the delightful story of a pre-social media "influencer" who's celebrated for her farm-fresh cooking, abilities as the perfect homemaker, wife and mom, and idyllic country lifestyle. The catch? She's a single city girl who can't cook and has to scramble to pull off the ultimate charade when important guests show up expecting the picture-perfect Christmas she's been selling.
My latest book, Lights, Camera, Christmas, is a modern reimagining of that beloved classic. Whether you're new to the story or already love the original, I hope you'll enjoy this festive romantic comedy about self-discovery, authenticity, and how we balance real life with our online personas. And, of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without a sprinkle of holiday magic and heart.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the book—and don't forget to tell me your must-watch holiday movies in the comments!
