Everything started when you and your parents decided to move to Pulau Rintis when you were a child, you don't really know exactly why you needed to move there, especially when you have so much to lose. The friends you have left behind, the years of getting cozy in your school, the house you spent your years living in and just the memories in that previous city of yours. All left behind to move to another place where you will have to rebuild and regain every connection you have.

You remembered complaining to your parents why you'd have to move to an island all of the sudden but they just laughed it off and said that you'd understand soon when you arrived.

And they weren't wrong.

You knew it was a good decision to move the moment you stepped out of your car and got a look around to see how beautiful the island was.

The place itself is peaceful to say the least, away from the bustling city where you were used to. Despite being an island, it was developed enough to have everything the society needed, a well-performing school, a well-equipped hospital, and pretty much some other stuff you'd see in a typical city. Other than that, it had this charm that had you very hooked.

Surrounded by lush greenery and the scenic coastline, it was the perfect environment to grow up into.

The only problem was settling in. Remember the friends you made? Well you were lucky that you even had them, not in a bad way but rather because you had a hard time approaching others. You weren't the type of person who can be really sociable, you know the type to engage with strangers and get along quickly. You'd rather be the person to be talked to, to be the one to be approached.

So it wasn't really a shock that the moment you feel a connection with an extrovert who decides to adopt you in their friend group? You stick to them a lot. So it's really a shame to leave your friends behind and just hope that your social life will be just okay.

Pulau Rintis wasn’t a big island, and new faces were always an event to talk about. So naturally, the news of your family buying into the house near Tok Aba’s Cocoa Shop had been circulating for weeks. People had speculated that perhaps it was just a vacation house but when people saw stuff getting moved in, they knew they're getting a new neighbor soon.

Of course, with how tight knitted the community was, it wasn't hard for a certain group of people to get information about it. So when the day for you to finally and formally move in, Boboiboy and the others were quick to take notice.

They were hanging in Tok Aba’s kokotiam, just sitting and having their usual chit-chat when they first spotted you from a distance, helping in moving some of the small boxes from behind the car with your parents.

“It's the new neighbor alert!” Gopal declared dramatically, pointing in your direction, “I didn't know they had a daughter!”

Boboiboy, sipping on a mug of Tok Aba’s famous cocoa, glanced over curiously. “She looks our age,” he remarked with a smile.

“Maybe she’ll want to play games with us,” Yaya added excitedly, pleased with the idea of having another female in the friend group.

“Or we could ask her to join us for a snack at Tok Aba’s,” Boboiboy suggested, inviting people for a snack never fails to gain friendship from others.

“You’re all so quick to make friends,” Ying said, a little nervously. “What if she doesn’t like us?”

“Then we’ll make her like us!” Gopal said confidently, puffing out his chest. Then he would then take another large sip of cocoa then make a sound of satisfaction after.
