Nightmares ( Plasma )

      --- This is a Plasma fluff story ---

The Ninjas always went on on dangerous missions, trying to save the world. Sometimes it gets close to someone dying or being kidnapped, but they always make it out alright somehow. There was just one problem that no one knew about- not everyone took their adventures that easy.

It was around midnight, as Kai was about to walk from the kitchen of the monastery to his room. When he walked past Jay's room he took in a strange noise, which he couldn't clearly make out directly, as it was pretty quiet. He knocked on the door waiting for Jay's voice to speak up, but he didn't. Suddenly it was completely gone. Kai knocked once again, still getting no answer, so he decided to open the door. Then, as he walked in he softly asked:

,,Jay, are you asleep?"

He didn't get a response at first but he heard it again, now clearer than before, it sounded like... crying? Kai thought to himself. He once spoke up softly again, he said:

,,Jay, I know you are awake, I can hear you sobbing, are you okay?"

That's when the body in the bed moved and turned around. Kai could slightly see the outline of Jay's body so he couldn't really tell at first if he was really crying but he got his answer as Jay mumbled in a shaky voice:

,,Everything is alright, I'm sorry if I woke you up Kai."

From then on Kai knew that this was exactly the opposite, he spoke up:

,,Quit the act, I know something is up.", Kai sat down on the bed in the room,"tell me, what's wrong?"

Jay didn't answer but as Kai sat still, he knew that his friend wouldn't go on his own, he couldn't hold his tears back anymore. Kai was a bit shocked at first, he never heard or saw his friend crying , he was always the funny one, cheering people and especially his friends up. Kai thought for a moment as he sat Jay straight up and took him in his arms.

It felt strange at first but after a few seconds it was like Jay melted into his arms as he kept on crying. Kai gave his best to calm him down, stroking his back and after what felt like hours, Jay calmed down. Kai slowly said:

,,Seems like you calmed down, now that I'm already here, mind telling me what's on your mind?"

Jay didn't talk at first but as his eyes met something in the dark room which felt like Kais gaze, he replied with:

,,N-Nothing really, just so-some stupid... nightmares...."

,,Hey, it's fine and now that I know, mind telling me what they were about?"

Kai waited for an answer, not leaving till he got it. Finally, Jay mumbled:

,,It was about you guys...."

,,You mean about me and the other ninjas? I don't really understand, why would you cry when I'm in your dream?"

Kai joked, wanting to lighten up the mood a bit but still trying to get some answers out of Jay and it seemed to work! Jay slightly giggled as Kai made the joke, he replied with:

,,Conceited, but yes, it was about you guys."

Jay really seemed to have calmed down, he wasn't crying anymore which Kai made out from nor hearing him sobbing anymore. But Kai wouldn't let this be the end of the talk.

,,So mind telling me what happened? You know, maybe I can convince you that it wasn't that bad and really just some cruel joke your mind was playing on you."

Jay sounded like he was thinking about it and then he slowly spoke:

,,It was about... losing you guys, on a mission...."

His sadness came back once again and as Jay was still pretty close to Kai, Kai hugged him again.

,,Hey, you know that we won't leave you, right? Since we all became Ninjas you got stuck with us, no one will leave you this soon, I'll take care of that, I promise!"

Jay didn't knew that Kai could actually be this soft as he only gets to see his "cool" side. He slightly chuckled after a moment, he was still a bit sad but he couldn't stop smiling.

,,Hey, what's so funny now?", Kai asked confused but still happy to hear that Jay was a bit more cheerful, "I'm trying to be helpful here!"

Jay slightly got out of the hug as he tried to look into Kai's face just seeing his glowing eyes a bit.

,,Nothing, jusstttt, the "cool" guy trying to tell me some heartwarming words.", Jay laughed. Now Kai knew what was up with his giggling as he started to chuckle too.

,,You dickhead, I was just trying to be nice!", he said as a joke.

Jay and Kai kept talking for a bit more as Jay let out a little yawn.

,,Looks like someone is about to get tired again.", Kai said, "I guess I will leave you alone now then."

Jay really got tired but he knew that he couldn't go back to sleep now again.

,,About that... I won't be able to sleep now, never can after nightmares...."

Kai was shocked but also a little curious, wondering how often Jay had those nightmares but he didn't want to sadden the mood again, this would be a question for another time. Then Kai got an idea, he took the laptop from Jay's sideboard that he knew always lays there. With it in his hands he sat next to Jay in his bed.

,,What are you doing?", Jay asked, confused, some red getting onto his cheeks, happy that it was dark in his room, so Kai couldn't see his face.

,,What does it look like? I'm watching a movie with you, if you really stay up all night you shouldn't be alone."

Jay was flustered a bit as Kai got closer to him, stood the laptop on his own legs and started a random movie.

,,Thank you.", Jay whispered.

For response he earned a smile which he now could see because of the small light that came from the screen and a ,,You're welcome". Kai and Jay silently watched the movie shoulder to shoulder and only after 30 minutes Kai noticed that Jay had finally fallen asleep. He knew this without even looking after him as his head rested on his shoulder, breathing steady and calm. Kai couldn't hold back a smile as he closed the laptop and made himself more comfortable, that led to Jay's head falling slowly on his chest. He wrapped one arm around the boy and as he leaned in closer he gave him a small kiss on his forehead, whispering:

,,Sleep well, my bluebell. I will be taking care of you, I promise."

On Jay's sleeping face there was forming a smile on his mouth as he cuddled himself more onto Kai. With that, the both boys fell into a deep sleep, keeping themselves warm and safe by cuddling each other.
