Don't speak.
Don't run.
Don't scream.
Don't breathe.
Don't do anything that could attract their attention.

The words echoed in my mind, looping endlessly, sinking into me like scars beneath my skin. I could almost see the bold, red lettering, burned into the darkness behind my eyelids, searing through the thin membrane that ccovered what was going on outside of me

I couldn't open my eyes. I couldn't move my legs. I couldn't even scream or beg for help. I was caught, trapped in the suffocating grip of sleep paralysis. The five demands—no, the five commandments—repeated, over and over, relentless , as though they were the very foundation of my survival.

Whether they were or not, I couldn't say. But I can guarantee this: The second I regain control of my body, I will disobay all of them.

The demonic sound linered through my entire body, I felt that I was burning.
