I've lost count of the tears I've shed. Once, I cried over little things; now, I'm numb to the pain. My tears have dried up, not because I've healed, but because they've run out. The shattered pieces of me remain. I remember the bucket list I had, the dreams I cherished. Drinking alcohol with my future husband was one of them. But that night changed everything. My father's drunken rage haunted our home, beating me, my mom, and my brother. The India that reveres women as goddesses is a facade. No man truly sees his woman as divine.
Time, they said, would heal me. Vanya reassured me, 'Time will heal.' But it's a lie. Time only deepens the scars. Now, I'm attending Aadarsh's wedding, the man I once thought would be mine. Everyone and everything I thought was meant for me slips away. Aadarsh's love, care, and support were unimaginable. He became an essential part of my life, but fate had other plans. As I stood there, lost in thought, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions swirling inside me. My mind was a jumble of worries, fears, and uncertainties. But then, I heard Bhai's voice, breaking the silence.
"Rooh!"
I snapped back to reality, my heart skipping a beat. "Yeah, coming!" I replied, trying to sound casual despite the turmoil brewing within. What have I done now? I wondered, my eyes fixed on Neel Bhai's hands. He was holding something, and my curiosity was piqued.
"Neel Bhai, what's that?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Neel Bhai's smile was enigmatic. "See for yourself," he said, handing me the mysterious object. My fingers trembled as I took it from him. The box was exquisitely crafted, adorned with intricate patterns that seemed to dance in the light. I lifted the lid, and my breath caught in my throat. Inside, nestled among velvet folds, lay a stunning necklace. The stones.... ofc dimond ka lane ke liye ye mujhse hi paise lega na...or main dungi nahi...but anyways it sparkled like stars, and the pendant shone with an ethereal glow. It was breathtaking.
( Translation : Of course, he needs money for the diamond necklace from me, and I'm not gonna give him..)
"So pretty, Bhai!" I exclaimed, my eyes wide with wonder. But Neel Bhai's expression turned serious. He took the necklace from my hand, his touch sending shivers down my spine.
