Audrina became deaths mistress during the war.  She had ended up with her dad’s cloak, the elder wand, and the stone.  She didn’t know she had the stone snagged into her clothing when she saved the elder wand from Harry, who attempted to destroy it.  When she got back home and was by her cloak, the bond happened.   She knew something happened but not necessarily what.  Just a script tattooed itself around her ring finger.  It was a language she didn’t know.

When Audrina turned 20, Draco covered it up with a Malfoy heirloom as her engagement ring.  Audrina had never been happier.  It wouldn’t last.

You see, Draco was still the same boy who needed his father’s approval.  Who can never say no to his father. Sure, he went against his father in the war, but it was different.  Lucius didn’t know what Draco was doing.  Had he known and told his son to stop, Draco would have immediately.  Draco knew that, which is why he carefully stayed away so his father couldn’t ask him to join.

The Malfoy family wanted to stay prominent.  So they needed to clean up their image.  A marriage with Audrina would not clean it up.  Draco’s parents asked him to marry Astoria Greengrass.  It made Draco sick, but he agreed.  His parents planned the wedding as Draco spent his days with Audrina, who had no clue.

On the day of the wedding, Audrina was home alone in the apartment she shared with Draco.  She was planning their own wedding when an owl tapped on the window.  Audrina opened the window and removed the invitation from the owl.  She gave it a treat, and it flew off.

“That’s weird.  This is addressed to Harry, so why is it here?” Audrina asked herself as she opened it.

She ignored the note from Harry taunting her and focused on the invitation.  She was sure she was reading it wrong.

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Draco Lucius Malfoy and Astoria Greengrass…

Audrina stared at their names.  That it was happening right now.  The world began spinning.  She was confused.  He didn’t even indicate he wouldn’t be home today.  Did he plan to wed her and bed her then return here all within one night?!
She placed the invite on the table and removed her engagement ring.  She placed it on top of the invite.  She walked to their room and gathered all of her things.  Once she had everything she left, never to return.

She was back in her ancestral home.  She had no plans to stay.  England held nothing for her.  There's no reason to stay.  She called her family attorney and said she wanted a new ancestral home in the States.  She asked them to find a good spot.

They reached back out stating that the area with the best magic is New Orleans , but there’s a vampire ruling the city who doesn’t allow magic.  They snorted and said he really only controlled the French Quarter, so she’d be fine uptown.  They showed her some beautiful manors and she chose one in the Garden District.

She then asked for a second home somewhere quiet where she could mourn in private.  The lawyers chose Mystic Falls and showed her homes there.  She picked a smaller one as she didn’t need two manors.  She had frames made for her grandparents and dad to go between this manor, New Orleans, and Mystic Falls.

Soon, the few loved ones Audrina has showed up.  Their voices were loud as they entered, calling for her.  Audrina met her friends, God brother, and father.

“We had no idea, Dahlia!!  I swear we didn’t. Daphne didn’t warn us so we could warn you. I swear!” Pansy nearly shouted.

“I didn’t even think of that.  I haven’t thought of much but escaping.  Padfoot, I bought two homes in the States.  A new ancestral manor in New Orleans.  And a home in Mystic Falls where I can mourn.  I was hoping you’d come and do the Black family spell to hide my property from everyone except who I give the password to.” Audrina requested as she gave her best sad doe eyes.

“Oh Prongslet you know I’d do anything for you.  Of course I will.  I will be splitting my time between you and Harry.  He lost everything in the war.” Sirius said.

“Siriusly?  He has a living twin sister.  He hasn’t lost everything.  He made the choice.  But it’s ok.  I’d never expect you to choose.” Audrina scoffed.

“I know.  And I’m sorry he is behaving this way.  Thank you for understanding.” Sirius said as he hugged his daughter.

“You know we’re coming with, right?” Fred asked.

George, Neville, Luna, and Pansy all nodded.  Audrina sighed.

“Can I have my time to mourn first?  We can reunite in New Orleans?” Audrina asked.

“We can agree to that so long as you take the twins.  We’d feel better if you weren’t alone.” Luna said in her airy tone.

Audrina agreed, and so it was settled.
