You stood infront of the double doors, patiently waiting for Lévis to walk out. He was currently talking to his father. And when he did walk out, he had a sour expression on, you could see how his jaw was clenched.
"Get in, he wants to talk to you." He simply said. Before leaning against the wall that was beside the doors. He didn't face you, instead he looked at the floor.
"I'll be here waiting for you.."
You steeled in a breath, trying to calm your nerves, walking in the room.
{•••}
"Ms. Kocho, nice meeting you. I was not informed that you'll be visiting here. I would have offered you a warm welcome."
Having a conversation with a stranger was nerve-wracking to you, even more so when you're talking with THE chief of Bureau. You felt like dying in the suffocating atmosphere.
"It's not really that important.. I'm merely helping Lévis with school work." You wave off, feeling sweat trickle down your neck.
"You might be wondering why you're here, yes?" You nod, curious on what he has to say.
"I heard great things about you, that you have quite a skill on potions and medicines. Identifying a sickness, and producing a cure in return. When you were 13 years old, correct?" He smiled, but it soon dropped quickly as it came.
You hesitantly nod, "Yes sir, it was just an insignificant one, really." You bashfully smile.
"Well, let's not prolong this further. I want you to cure of my other son. His magic capacity weakened and declined, rendering him unable to use magic, and the doctors cannot identify it. They said it was way too complex." He cuts to the chase, not wanting to waste more anytime.
"Wha..what.." you trail off, blinking multiple times, "I want you to cure of my son." He repeated.
"Eh-! Pardon me, but.. but this is quite sudden..!" You recoiled back.
He sighed, "I know it is out of the blue. But there is no other one to cure him, I've called the best of the best and yet they couldn't do it. So I have no choice but to turn to you. I'll be giving you favors if you agree. So what is your answer?"
"..."
"I'll think about it sir, give me a day."
"As you wish, you may go."
{•••}
Walking out of the room, closing the huge double doors behind you gently. Almost collapsing on your feet out of relief.
"How did it go?..he didn't do anything did he?"
Lévis approached you, his hand coming in to firmly hold your shoulder.
"Are you okay? You look like your about to fall."
Lévis had an uncharacteristically worried face. He quietly led you back to his study room. Walking down the hall, the two of you were silent, only the clicks of the shoes were heard, until you spoke up.
"He already told you didn't he?.."
Lévis gritted his sharp teeth, "that bastard just wants some use on Lovie.."
"..." Lévis glances at you, seeing a far off look in your eyes.
"I wouldn't be angry y'know." Lévis knew what was on your mind.
"You aren't..?" You look at him in slight shock.
"It's your choice if you agree to cure my brother or not. I can't exactly control you."
"It's just that..."
"You're overthinking it. Yes, a part of me doesn't want him to be healed. But another part of me does. I don't get it, it's confusing. My feelings shouldn't matter to your decision." He mumbled his hand falling off your shoulder.
"it's normal to consider ones feelings in the matter.. that's what friends do.." you grabbed his hand, entangling your fingers with his.
"..."
"...?"
You turn to look at him wondering why he grew quiet, except he was looking away. You noticed how red his ears were.
'its probably the hands..' you held in a chuckle, slightly swinging your clasped hands with his, back and forth. The air lightening around the both of you. The seriousness dissipating into nothing.
