Chapter 11: The price to pay

Rei: Hmm? Where... Is this place?

Rei was lying on the ground. Once he was fully awakened, he found himself in a familiar place. He has been here before after all.

Rei: I... know this place. I've been here before. Oh right! This place is where I met the Herrscher in my body. Why am I here?

Rei was thinking of how he got here. Then, he slowly remembered everything that has been transpired.

Rei: Wait, the mission, Himeko, and that weird girl! I remember now! That creepy girl with a devilish grin. The sword was given to that girl for Himeko safety, Fu hua took the chance to strike at her. After that, everything is blurry to me now.

Rei: I must have been knocked out from the corruption transferring I had done that day. I wonder if they are alright?

???: Don't worry, they are alright. You as well.

Rei: Huh?

Rei turn his head and met with the three Herrscher that was within him.

Rei: It you guys.

HOI: Hehe, that was quite a crazy moved back there. Transferring the corruption into your body.

Rei: One of you guys gave me a suggestion to transfer half of the corruption into me to save Himeko. Don't tell me I died from doing it.

HOL: You didn't died. You just fell unconscious from the drawback of the transferring. Humans body can't handle the might of honkai corruption, even if you have resistance, you still will feel the pain.

HOG: You were the only one to resolve yourself and transferred that corruption on yourself. Even though you know the consequences of it.

Rei: It not that bad, if it just having to sleep on bed for four day straight, I'm sure I'll be good the next day.

HOL: There will be no next day if you had done it.

Rei: What?

HOG: I did say that you could saved her by transferring half of the corruption onto you. But, your body is still not enough to fully hold it. That's why I was hesitant to allow you to do it.

Rei: What do you mean by that? You said I could saved her from fully turning her tiba zombie and delayed her death. And my body could be alright if I could handle it! Well, I did able to handle it earlier! Why did you say?

HOI: It's because your body is still human. The transfer now will only make your body numb, but the corruption will eat away your body from the inside for the passing time.

HOL: It's like you have a terminal illness that will slowly kill you inside. After a long time, your body will not be able to handle the corruption anymore and you will be disintegrate from existence. Your fate suddenly changed just by doing that one good deed and you now pay the price.

Rei: So what? Are you saying I should regret what I had just done earlier and leave her to die slowly. News flash! I don't care about that, if I could have done it any other way to save someone I cared about, I would gladly let down my life for them! So, screw off your useless sympathy!

The three Herrscher looked at each other and smiled, not even cared about the slander they had gotten.

HOG: We're not here to do that. For we know that you would do that in the first place.

Rei: Huh?

HOI: You would lay down your life just to help a loved one, we would not mock you over something like that. We are proud of it!

Rei: So, this is not you guys trying to pity me?

HOL: No, we are proud of it. But we also care more about your condition. So, I apologize for sounding like I'm mocking you.
