Hideki was visiting Tokyo doing signings and such when he came upon a park full of kids playing baseball and stopped to watch. That's when he noticed the purple haired boy hit balls like a pro would including a home run. He also saw the kid field the ball like a pro.
So after all the others had left just as Onyx was getting his stuff together to meet his adopted mom and siblings Hideki approached him and introduced himself. Onyx already knew who he was as he's been a fan since he saw him on tv.
Hideki offered to train Onyx and Onyx introduced him to Miyako, Ruby, & Aqua and thus at the age of only 8 Onyx began his journey into Baseball

Onyx met Kana when he was 1 when he and Aqua acted in a scene for the movie Ai was in which showed they both have a talent for acting
She is disappointed when she finds out not only is Aqua at the same school as her and not acting but that Onyx went to a completely different school and gave up acting for baseball
