*beep beep beep* I groan, rolling over to turn my alarm off. It's 8 a.m. And I have nothing to do. I contemplate going back to sleep but i think it will just make me feel worse about rotting in my dorm. I've only been to New York 3 times in my life. Once when I was 12, my cousin was going to college on Staten Island and my dad found it a golden opportunity to let me venture out of Georgia. We drove the ridiculous 16 hour drive just to stay there for 2 days and then drive back. I did a lot of sight-seeing in that 3 day time period, but there were so many things I didn't get to see and so many things that have changed since then. Sadly I don't remember the things I did see since it was so long ago. The next 2 times I came here were trips with my mom to check out NYU. I have a week left before I start college so I think I'm gonna use today as an opportunity to get comfy in the big city.
I crawl out of bed and change out of my comfy toy-story pajama pants. I bought them when I was 15 and honesty they are the softest pants in the world. I decide to wear black jeans, a white and black striped crop-top, and my black converse. I feel like I'm gonna stick out since I don't know how to dress like a city girl, considering I'm from the ghetto. But hey maybe no one will notice.
If I've learned one thing about my visits to New York it's that no one drives their own car. Since I don't look like I'm from around here then I need to at least take a cab like a real "New Yorker."
Once my cab arrives I ask them to take me to Times Square. After the short drive, I pay my cab driver without thanking him (I saw in a movie once that New Yorkers are rude) and then I hop out and start walking. I had completely forgotten that I hadn't had breakfast until my stomach started growling at me. The first food place I saw was a "Panda Express" and I got excited, it seems like forever since I've had chinease food, even if it's cheap, fast-food, chinease.
After ordering my food and then sitting at a little table by myself I finish the entire plate of orange chicken in under 10 minutes. I need to walk off all of the food I just inhaled and I saw a bookstore like 4 blocks down the road. I've been meaning to go to a library or bookstore for a couple of weeks now. Macy has been going on about "Paper Towns" by John Green. Now they are turning it into a movie and Macy is ready to kill me since I haven't read the book yet, she's scared I'm gonna turn into one of the people that sees the move first. To give her credit I probably would've seen the movie first if I wouldn't of seen a bookstore today.
I grab my wallet and begin walking to "Big City Books"
