About The Dawn Story, and Total Drama as a whole.

I wanna ask you guys. What do you like about the Dawn story?

For me, the story has been both a dream and a nightmare.

A dream as I get to write for a character I love, but a nightmare because of the way I decided to go about writing it. Some plot points I love but others I wanna drop kick myself for. A good example is the whole "blind rage" dogshit.

It's just poorly written and reuses am already existing plot point from the show itself, it was an attempt at trying to make the whole "shy person loses it" trope but just comes off as sloppy and pointless, and I've already said my peace on what I think about adding weird powers and gimmicks to stories, but for those who don't know, it ruins the immersion in my opinion.

Tough I will say that the beginning I like, the readers personality of a shy, anxious character slowly getting better over the course of the story as he has someone to lean on.

Another issue is with the show itself. The characters and plot tend to be either one extreme or another, stupid or great.

This creates an issue where I need am event to happen later into the story, but I need a certain character to do it so it creates a balance of me needing to consider who to eliminate or keep around for future plot points, an example of which being when Cameron, he's important but because I needed an elimination and a future plot point to worry about I eliminated him which ended up creating issues of its own.

What I may end up doing is going back through and reworking the story with Staci to make it easier, but would mean I would have to create an original episode idea, which as of writing I don't have any ideas for, and just in general needing to rewrite the story in, most, of its entirety would be annoying.

A smaller issue is just needing to go back and watch an episode of a season countless a few times in a row, which is causing me to burn out on Total Drama.

So after the Scary Girl story, I'm taking a long break from Total Drama stories as a whole, the only exception being the Dawn story if I can find out what I want to do with it, bit after which, I'm wanting to move on to other franchises. To put into perspective, I don't even have a draft down for the Ella story says how far tired I am of the series. I still love it, but again, I just wanna take a break.

So, for those who are wondering why I've been so put off on updating the Dawn story, that's why. It also gives insight into how I think about and treat all my stories in general.

But again, I would love to hear some other opinions on this. It could be just me being hard on myself, but it's what I firmly believe.

I never want to produce slop, I want to put the most effort into all of my stories as I can, which is why I do the full episode rather than just segmenting it, the Gwen story being over 9 hours because of this choice, but I don't mind because it makes it feel complete, not half assed.

Anyway, I feel like this rant has gone on long enough for those who read it all. Thank you, and again, any feedback is helpful and appreciated.
