Just for clarity. Mai is the twin that rented her the dress and drank with her. She's the executive secretary. Maki is the team head of her department. I've realized I've been making some name errors.

I CANT FIND A FUCKING HAIKU TO FIT THE THEME. Help. Who wants to write one?

Paying back Mai came in acts of service. though it wasn't detrimental to your pocket, it seemed as though you had been recruited as a slave.

That's how you ended up staring at an email that simply read:

From: T. Fushiguro
Subject: Coffee
Message: I want coffee.

The message was so brief it almost seemed rude, but you didn't think much of it.

If anything, it made you more curious about him.

Though intimidating, Fushiguro-san was intriguing—a man who rarely spoke outside of clipped, direct phrases yet managed to command the entire office's attention.

Mai had called shortly after to let you know she'd forwarded his message and would send the café's address. "Don't overthink it. Just get the coffee and bring it up. He's picky, so don't bother with the office's brew."

it was oddly cryptic and her tone was clipped with annoyance. awkwardly, you gazed at the email once more and probably for the entire fifteen minutes that led up to your lunch break.

it was just odd.

The request wasn't absurd at all to you; it was just... odd. You expected there'd be some sort of coffee runs since you were an intern but for the director of the company?

Why you? Shouldn't that be done by someone special?

you pondered about it. But as you stepped into the bustling café downtown, you resolved not to question it too much.

what you really worried about was what exact type of coffee the new direction wanted

and so you ordered two cups—one regular, one decaf—figuring it was better to have options, and held them carefully on your way back.

the heat seeped through the cardboard, warming your hands against the crisp November air.

by the time you reached his office, your heart had already begun to race, though you weren't entirely sure why. You barely had time to compose yourself before the door swung open.

The first coffee run turned into another. Then another. Each time, his email would appear, just as blunt as the first but this time they were directed to your email instead of Mai's.

From: T. Fushiguro
Subject: Coffee
Message: Same as last time.

you weren't sure why he kept asking you specifically, however you never hated it. If anything, you found yourself strangely eager to fulfill the requests, even if it meant skipping half of your lunch hour.

many more of your days went by like that.

on some days when you entered his office, fushiguro-san would be on the phone or on others you'd see important clientele or journalists leaving his office with tight expressions. whichever day it was, he'd still invite you inside to stand. if it was too confidential then he'd just take it then lock the door.
