A month had passed since Ruby's attempted suicide. She was relatively back to normal. She graduated and started her career as a licensed therapist. Helping others has become somewhat therapeutic for her. Kylie and Malia have continued to stay strong. Of course, there have been moments where Malia had gone off the deep end but every time she has, she has made sure to come to Kylie or Ruby first before she does anything. She had started school recently, taking CPR courses and going to nursing school.
All of Mel's stuff has been put away in a box. Her green mug, old photographs, everything. Ruby had half a mind to donate them but she thought against it. She would miss these items too much. They were the last thing of Mel's that she has left. She wasn't about to throw them away. Her old engagement ring lays in the box, in a drawer in her room. Untouched but not forgotten. It was time to move on. Mel would have wanted it. She said so herself. She has yet to actually move on but she has gotten out more. Her, Kylie and Malia were on their weekly group outing, Malia wanted to take them to a new cafe that she found out about on Instagram. After promising that she wasn't going to be a third wheel, Ruby reluctantly said yes.
It was quaint. Cute. They order their drinks and sit as they take in the atmosphere. "It's pretty chill here, actually. How did you find this place, babe?" Kylie asks her girlfriend. "Instagram and then i looked it up on Yelp!" Malia shrugs. "One Matcha! One Vanilla Chai! One Hot Chocolate, no sugar!" They all stand to grab their drinks. "One hot chocolate!" Ruby pays extra attention as to which one was hers, she does need an allergic reaction, even though her EpiPen is in her pocket. Before she can grab her drink, however, she sees someone else already grab it and walk off. "Hey! Guys...." She turns to Kylie and Malia but they're too busy talking about the cute figurines on the walls to pay attention to her. "Ugh!" She hurries after the girl as she grabs the other drink. "Hey! Uh, i think you grabbed my drink!" She calls out to her. "Did i really?" The girl looks at the drink in her hand. "Oh, whoops. My bad. Here you go." She hands it to her as Ruby hands the other drink to her. "You know, they should really put names on these things." Ruby shrugs. The other girl nods. "Right? Like at this point, I'll take Starbucks expensive ass coffee, at least they label shit." Ruby laughs. "That is true. Besides, you're gonna thank me cause my hot chocolate was sugar free." "Ugh! Why would you do that to yourself?!" She asks her. Ruby laughs as she blushes. "Not by choice, i swear. I'm allergic to sugar." The girl stares at her. "You're allergic to sugar?" Ruby nods. "Yup, my ex had the same reaction." She winces as she closes her eyes. Stupid. "I mean, not that I'm comparing you to my ex, she just....yeah." She blushes. The girl nods. "Hey, no worries. It's ok, I'm pretty sure anyone would have that reaction, who the hell is allergic to sugar?" Ruby shrugs. "Apparently, me." The girl laughs. "Apparently so. Well, thank you for fixing the confusion. I'm glad you caught that before you had a reaction." The girl smiles and walks away. Ruby watches her for a second. "Wait a minute...." She runs to catch up to her. "Can i at least get your name?" She asks. "Morgan. Morgan Dudley." M D, same initials as Mel. "What about you?" "Ruby Rose Turner." "That's a beautiful name." Morgan smiles. "Thank you." Sunlight begins to reflect off of the water from the fountain nearby, causing a lighting effect on Morgan's face. Making it look like a rainbow is shining on her face. Ruby looks up at the clear sky. She takes a deep breath before she turns towards Morgan. "Hey, can i get your number?" She asks.
Kylie and Malia watch from inside. "I know that girl." Malia tells her. "You do?" "Yeah, she and i used to be in choir together." Kylie smiles as she watches Ruby write down her number. "Well, looks like you have more friends than you know." She turns towards her. "Oh a friend? Is that what you're considering yourself?" She smirks. "Not a chance." Kylie pulls her in for a kiss as Ruby and Morgan walk back in. "Hey Malia, long time no see." "Hey Morgan, how are you?" "Oh you know, just in school. Learning how to save a life."
