Shards of glass rained down from above as Verra was hit by a car. It slammed into her at full force, her bones shattering, skin scraping as she was thrown across the rough gravel flooring of the road. Blood pooled around her as she stilled on the road. As her vision blurred and she lost consciousness she saw the scared and worried expressions of the bystanders, twisted and crying.

That was 4 years in the past, and her lover, Sebastian, nicknamed Seb had visited her every single day since the crash, waiting impatiently by her side. In the basement of his two story tall home, he worked. Biology was a favourite of his and he intended to save his lover from the broken and damaged cage that was her body. He worked day and night trying to find a way to fix her, or at least create a new body for her. Another 3 years, wasted in his perilous attempts, until finally, he had fixed her. He connected her to the new body and the transferring began.

When Verra awoke she saw a bright light, illuminating the dark and rugged grey concrete walls and smooth red tile floors. She was laid across a skinny operating table, with a tray of medical tools next to her. She saw blood, spilled across the ground, almost merging with the tiles. When she looked down she saw... metal? Ripping off the sheet covering the rest of the body, she gasps. It was metal, but... at the same time it was human. Flesh and machine combined. She slowly got up and looked around. A furnace, bio bin, and tubes of almost human-like creatures or entities were all around her. She saw a staircase leading up at the end of the room. As she made her way across the room she saw a shadow descend down and she sprinted for the operating table, laying on it and pretending to sleep.

The shadow moves through the room towards the table, steps vibrating off the walls, it felt like an eternity before it made it beside her. Her eyes were closed, and she could hear its breathing.

"I know you're awake."

"Who are you?" She asks as she opens her eyes. Shock is what she feels as she sees... Sebastian?

"Seb, what is this, what are you doing? Why?"

He stays silent as he stares at her.

"It worked, it finally worked."

"Will, what are you talking about," The urgency and concern in her voice was strong.

""Verra, I fixed you, you're back!"

"Sebastian, what have you done to me!" She yells, anger, confusion, sadness, they all flood her at once as she takes in what has happened. Seb turned her into a monster. Something completely wrong, strange. So human yet so... not. He let out a laugh and Verra looked at him.

"Why?" Concern was dripping with every word she said.

"Because, Verra, I couldn't let you get taken away from me, I love you. Don't you see that I fixed you? I turned you indestructible. You're stronger now."

"So?! You couldn't just let me die?!" She exclaimed, gripping the sheet in her hand.

It went dead silent, his expression darkened and he looked down.

"Understand that I couldn't let you die. I did this because I love you. Why can't you see that?!"

"I can't deal with this right now." She said, her voice wobbling . She stood up and started to walk to the staircase.

"Verra, come back this instant!"

Silence over took everything and Verra's head was buzzing so much, it felt like she could rip it off.

Ascending the stairs, she came to realize that this entire death dungeon, or whatever it was- It was all in his basement. Verra bestowed her trust in Sebastian, and yet it seemed that the trust was simply not there.

She grabbed a shirt and sweats and left. If she remembered correctly, there was a forest she could hide out in not too far from his house.

After a few years of radio silence she suddenly re-emerged, a vigilante who would track down Seb and stop his experiments. Occasionally he would send said experiments after her, as a test for them to see if they worked well.
