Agent X: Before the Betrayal

Agent X, real name Anya Sharma, wasn't born into espionage. She was a brilliant physicist, recruited straight out of MIT by a clandestine government agency known only as "The Obsidian Circle." Her exceptional intellect and tactical prowess quickly propelled her through the ranks. She specialized in unconventional warfare, developing cutting-edge weaponry and strategies. Anya was known for her sharp mind, unwavering loyalty, and almost ruthless efficiency. She was a master of disguise, infiltration, and close-quarters combat.

Her partner, Marcus Cole, was everything Anya wasn't: charismatic, charming, and seemingly fearless. They complemented each other perfectly, a deadly duo known for their successful missions. Over time, a complex relationship developed between them – a bond forged in shared danger and mutual respect, but also tinged with a subtle rivalry and unspoken tension. Anya often found herself questioning Marcus's methods, sensing a darkness beneath his charming facade.

Their last mission was supposed to be routine: eliminate a rogue scientist who had developed a highly contagious zombie virus.  The scientist was holed up in a dilapidated research facility on the outskirts of the city.  Marcus assured Anya it would be a simple in-and-out operation. He suggested a direct approach, while Anya favored a more stealthy tactic. She dismissed her concerns, trusting her partner implicitly.

The mission went horribly wrong. It wasn't the zombies that nearly killed Anya; it was Marcus. He lured her into an ambush, leaving her surrounded by the infected while he escaped. The last thing Anya saw before the horde overwhelmed her was Marcus's cold, calculating smile. He left her to die, a betrayal that would haunt her even in death.
