Nishtha
I watched the news in horror. I didn't know it would come to this. Didn't Yuvaan say that he wouldn't publicize this? I'm so confused.
"Rajesh? What is this?" Maa asked him.
He looked at the TV, looking relaxed, "I don't have an issue with this. She asked for it."
"She did."
"What are we going to do?" Maa asked.
"We don't need to do anything." Papa said.
"What do you mean?"
"She got what she deserved Jaya. You and Nishu both need to calm down and understand that this is how it is. We need to move on as well."
"Rajesh.... It's not about that. Do we really want things with Nishtha so publicized? Where on earth is Yuvaan?"
"He's at work. I'm going to meet him there and then we'll talk about all this." Papa said.I was listening to this quietly. I had so many questions but Yuvaan isn't there to answer them.
"Maa," I said, "I... I'm gonna stay at home."
"Why beta?"
"I'm just—"
"See, Rajesh, she's scared to go to work."
"I'm not scared Maa, I'm just, I'm confused."
"Bete..." Maa said and turned to me, sitting next to Papa and I, "Yuvaan did this for you. You don't need to forgive him but, just know that he really cares about you."
"I..."
"You don't need to answer bete." Papa said, "I know how you feel. Just take care of yourself first. Your... hospital visits have reduced."
"Papa, they've not. I just don't feel like I need to go anymore."
"Nonsense." Papa said, "Go today. I'm going to book your appointment. Take Yuvaan and go today. Please." He said and booked it.
I sighed and then agreed.I went to work in my room after helping Papa and Maa. I worked for almost 4 hours before I got a call from Yuvaan.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Nishu, be ready." He said.
"For?"
"I'm taking you to the doctor babe."
"Oh. I... it's not needed. I'll go on my own."
"Come outside. I'm waiting."
I sighed and then got ready, then grabbed my bag and went outside.
"Papa. I'll be back." I said.
"Where are you going bete?" He asked me.
"To the doctor."
"Oh I see. Good. Is Yuvaan outside?" I nodded, so he carried on, "Perfect. Good."I went outside and sat in the car. He was there. We drove quietly.
"So." He asked me, "How are you today?"
I looked at him, "Good."
"Why have you been ignoring your doctor's appointments Nishtha?"
"I haven't."
"Sure you haven't. You haven't gone in months. Why not?"
"That's none of your business."
"Hmm." He said causally and drove.Once we reached, he parked the car and we got down and walked towards the doctor's room.
"Why are you coming?" I asked him.
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I'll handle it, Yuvaan." I sighed and walked in, with him following me, because I knew he isn't going to budge."Nishtha Yadav?" The doctor said.
I nodded, but before I could say anything, he said, "It's Nishtha Yuvaan Nanda."
I looked at him, then at the doctor, "it's nothing. How have you been doctor?"
"I'm good. Congrats on your marriage!"
"Thanks." I said.
"Okay so, I'll run some usual tests on you, you know the drill, and besides that, why don't you talk me through what's been going on?"I spoke to her. I had to tell her about my panic attacks, she already knew, and my recent panic attacks and the old partial comma. I had no choice, I had to say it. I didn't want him to hear it but I looked at him, who was looking straight at the doctor and me, with eyes I couldn't read.
Once we left, I went to pick my medicines up and then got back into the car, where he was waiting for me. I sat down, and sat quietly. He found out a lot of stuff about me which he didn't know before and I don't know how he's going to take it.
He has no rights to know about me. This is my business, not his. Even tho he's my husband.
He isn't. It's a formality.
Is it, though?
It is.I sat quietly until we reached, then I was going to get down when he grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. I gasped at the sudden impact, "What are you doing?!"
He didn't reply, just looked at me.
"Hello?"
"Nishtha," he finally spoke, "I... I'm sorry that you dealt with all this. I don't know how else to say this or how to fix this but I'm trying. I... I didn't know about your... attacks, and..."
"You don't need to know anything."
"You're my wife. I want to know."
"I'm your wife on paper, who will you divorce as soon as your 2 years end, because you've got your girlfriends and flings waiting for you."
"Stop it." He said sternly.
"Oh it's true, the night before the wedding as well you were busy hooking up, weren't you?"He sighed, "Nish, that was a misunderstanding. I wanted to tell you then, but you wouldn't listen."
"I'm not interested now as well. Bye." I tried to leave but he held me.
"I've let go off you for too long. I'm not making that mistake again."I struggled and finally let go, then he got down and locked the car, grabbed my hand and pulled me so my back collided with his chest. His one hand wrapped around my stomach while his other hand trailed up my arm, leaving goosebumps across my entire body. I tried to let go but he held me in place.
"Go away." I said.
"I can't."
"It wasn't so difficult for you two weeks ago."
"You have no idea."
"Just let me go." I tried to break free but he turned me around and pulled me closer. His hand gripped my waist tightly while his other hand cupped my face. He came closer, and my eyes widened. His cheeks left a small peck on my face, missing my lips by just an inch.
I felt goosebumps."Y...Yuv—"
"Nishtha, you can hate me, curse me, yell at me, slap me, ignore me, throw me, do whatever you want me with me.... but do it while being in my arms, because I'm not letting you leave."✨
