I awoke feeling an unpleasant ache in my muscles, a reminder of the night before. My body hurts everywhere, but I feel a sense of peace and contentment. It feels as though I've found my place in the world, even only for a moment. I savor the moment, with every sensation heightened—his strong arm around me, the warmth of his body against my skin, enveloping me in a gentle, reassuring embrace. A smile spread across my face, shy but unstoppable.
I opened my eyes. And fixed my gaze on the man lying beside me. The gentle gleam of dawn pouring through the window allowed me to see his face.
His face.
His face, so relaxed and serene, appears almost boyish in sleep. His dark lashes rest gently on his cheeks, in stark contrast to his translucent, pristine skin, giving him an ethereal, almost godlike appearance.
His chest rises and falls in a slow, rhythmic pattern, a testament to the peace he's found in sleep. The faint scent of his cologne, now mingled with the natural, comforting scent of his skin, lingers in the air, grounding me in his presence. His lips play a small, almost faint smile. He seems caught in a pleasant dream.
The room is still, except for the smooth, steady sound of his breathing, which has become a lullaby to my ears. I reach out and softly trace the line of his jaw with my fingers, enjoying the heat of his skin and the small roughness of his stubble. His unkempt and soft hair falls across his forehead, inviting my touch.
The world outside is just beginning to stir, but in this moment, everything feels tranquil and perfect. Watching him gave me a profound sense of calm and connection. A connection that feels so palpable and a silent understanding that is beyond words. It's a moment of pure contentment, where the past and future fade away, leaving only the present, filled with passion, intimacy, and a sense of belonging.
"I wish I could stay!" Ping thoughts echoed in his mind. However, it's time to face reality. This man is nobody but a stranger. A stranger who had the power to let me lose.
I gently lifted his arm to free myself.
Slowly.
Gently.
I shuffle out of bed.
Out of there.
Out of his life.
"Goodbye." A whisper came from my heart. With one last look, I flee.
